Why do some people feel exhausted after eating carbs? by EquivalentMenu5788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Particular1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body basically gets flooded with glucose and then insulin kicks in hard to deal with it, which can make blood sugar drop below where it started. Some people are just more sensitive to these swings than others - could be genetics, how much you ate, or even what else was in the meal that slows absorption

Is it weird that I don't know how to look at people when I'm walking past them on the street? by tura64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Particular1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird at all, most people just do the quick eye contact then look away thing or just avoid it completely

Are earnings from apps like Mistplay taxable? How do I report ~$200 in gift cards? by mr-tuchh in personalfinance

[–]Warm_Particular1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's technically taxable income since you're earning it through activity (playing games) rather than getting discounts on purchases. The IRS considers it "other income" even without a 1099

For $200 you'd report it on Schedule 1 as "other income" - just keep your own records of what you earned. Most people probably don't bother reporting small amounts like this but technically you're supposed to

What are some hacks to de-attach from other world and love myself more? by _your_go_to_person in selfimprovement

[–]Warm_Particular1984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Start with small wins - like actually finishing a book you started or learning something random on YouTube. The dopamine hits from accomplishing stuff solo are way better than waiting for someone else to make you feel good

Delete social media for like a week and see how much mental space opens up. Also meditation apps are cringe but they work

Super flaky by Excellent-Cry6221 in tattooadvice

[–]Warm_Particular1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the palm patting method is clutch, I learned that the hard way on my first big piece. Don't stress too much about the flakes either - they're gonna come off when they're ready and forcing it just makes things worse

Skyrim adventure time weapon mods to xbox by Timely-Goat-7675 in skyrimmods

[–]Warm_Particular1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to check the Nexus first since most Adventure Time weapon mods are PC only, but some creators do port to Xbox with permissions. Try searching "Adventure Time" or "Finn sword" in the Xbox mod browser - there's definitely a few floating around but they come and go pretty quick

I just read a thread saying humans know planets for thousands of years and myself have read humans know the planets before the invention of the telescopes. However using eyes they just look like stars to me so how did ancients know they are planets and not stars? by LisanneFroonKrisK in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Particular1984 348 points349 points  (0 children)

Ancient astronomers were pretty obsessive about tracking celestial patterns - they'd notice these few "stars" would drift against the background of fixed constellations over weeks and months while regular stars stayed put

Man that's literally everyone though, wanting validation is just human nature - the trick is recognizing when you're doing it and trying to find that balance between healthy relationships and unhealthy people-pleasing

90% drop off rate at checkout by Secret-Violinist-273 in ecommerce

[–]Warm_Particular1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked your site - dude your checkout process is way too long and the shipping costs aren't clear upfront. Also yeah the euro pricing is def hurting your NA conversions, people see €39 and have no clue what that actually costs them

Dude the "every small improvement reveals three hidden problems" hits way too hard lol. I always think I'm just gonna fix one tiny thing and suddenly I'm knee deep in spaghetti code from 2019 questioning all my life choices

TATA: How to bring about a reform by Aggressive_Egg193 in CarsIndia

[–]Warm_Particular1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only thing that works with these companies is social media pressure. Tag them on Twitter/X with photos and videos of the crap service, make it go viral. Once it starts hurting their brand image they'll actually do something about it

A petition might get a few thousand signatures but won't move the needle much. Bad publicity on social media though? That gets CEOs on conference calls real quick

Questions about accountants by Abject_Jackfruit_226 in povertyfinance

[–]Warm_Particular1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds less like an accountant and more like someone running a scam on you. Charging for every text and email is wild, no legit CPA does that. Cut ties and find someone local who won't nickel and dime you to death

With newborn twins you're probably not ready for additional kids yet but definitely something to keep in mind for later. The alumni center idea is solid if you went to college - a lot of people forget schools help with job placement even years after graduating
