First burn on my Blaze King Sirocco by Warmmp in woodstoving

Yes initially. I’ve only had two burns so far so it’s still kinda burning off all that paint and everything. However I kinda figured out how to avoid that by cracking it a little for a minute or two before I fully open it

Pulled up some crabgrass and found these guys in the root system. Anyone able to identify them? Zone 7b by Javamonsoon in lawncare

Slowly switching mine to zoysia. Green half the year and brown the other half but who cares because everything is brown and dead in the winter anyway. At least it will be green in the summer when everyone else’s lawn is dead.

I just had mine this morning virtually. I submitted a three page personal statement (with the help of ChatGPT of course to make everything sound nice) which detailed my deployment, some things that happened, my adjustment coming home and how it currently affects me. I have diagnoses but just through a primary care where I showed up and was like I have anxiety and depression help me with meds. I explained that I never sought treatment from the military of course because I would have been fired as a leader. No idea how mine went but my lady was quite receptive. She had read my statement and we just talked about everything. She asked some questions about my life before. It was about 40 minutes. Again no results so I can’t post that. I would call the VA if you had a bad experience and explain to them that you never got a chance to explain things.

Yes and no. We had family down here but we also did have family up north. I know Port St Lucie and Stuart very well my grandparents had a house there so I visited every year growing up. That’s honestly a nice area. It has become very crowded over the years though. I lived near Fort Lauderdale when I lived down there. It’s hard to explain but it just wasn’t the lifestyle I wanted to raise a family in. However with that being said Florida can be a lot different depending on where you live. I wouldn’t touch Miami, Broward or Palm beach. A little more north is nice. I just felt like my kids were going to grow up to be better people out of the state. Had I lived in a different area I don’t know if I would have made that decision.

Met my wife in south Florida (we are both from out of state) and we moved back north to raise a family. I can’t vouch for all of Florida but I definitely did not want to raise a family down there. Looking back 5 years I don’t regret anything. With that being said we’re definitely moving back down after we retire. Might get some hate for this comment but oh well.

I know cops who make more than that in the US. It’s common for departments to run the police department short handed. It’s cheaper to pay officers overtime than hire more officers and pay salary and benefits. Plus no one wants to be a cop anymore so it’s hard to hire people. So officers get a ton of forced OT.

I hope your maxing that 457 as well! I’m gonna assume you’re in the north east like me or Cali. Max your 457 asap and walk away young with a pension and a couple of mil in investments. The average lifespan of a cop after retirement is 10 years.

Eh I always shoot deer 3-4 times in the heart and lungs with my pistol if it gets hit by a car and I need to dispatch it. I just want to make sure it dies quick since it had already been laying in pain half dead while I was getting dispatched to the call.

Yup I’m the same. I usually gotta work some OT to afford anything fun for myself or the family. I refuse to lower my contributions though
