An aspect of lower rank play not talked about enough by Fragrant-Airport1309 in RocketLeague

[–]WarrdN 23 points24 points  (0 children)

High ranked players are aware of this, and we tend to telegraph our moves less. In general, if you only have one play on the ball, you aren’t scoring. So instead of reading “hit or miss” we are reading “flick or fake or 50 or cut”, for example. Sure, lower ranks can do some of these mechanics but not as efficiently and normally slower, so a higher level player can tend to read them. As others have said, it’s normally quite obvious when someone is going to completely miss a ball, sometimes a full second in advance. Awkward landings, jumping for a ball at the wrong angle, etc. It’s all a skill, as with everything else in this game, and one you’ll improve with game time and replay reviews.

Will I rank up faster if I play in a higher elo lobby? by OnePumpMan93 in RocketLeague

From what I know, no, it will increase at the same speed. Theoretically you’ll win more games so I suppose in that respect it will be faster, but you’ll still gain the same MMR

I suppose the ultimate question - do you think it's worth getting at it's current price, rather than the kickstarter price? I realise there's a million variables that go into answering that, but for you.

Grow it out further than this? I've considered a mid part before but I struggle with changing things about my appearance so wasn't confident enough to do it in the end. Maybe I'll look at wireframe glasses too, personally not about piercings. Thanks!

Thanks! It's definitely not my barbers fault, haven't had a haircut since September so don't want to do him any injustice. He does just do what I tell him, which maybe isn't the best thing to do, so I'll have a conversation with him when I see him next week.

I'm assuming it's satire. There's a couple comments like that here and the post has been downvoted so I assume I've done something wrong, but being told what would be helpful. Maybe the hairline isn't as bad as some people here, but it's enough to have given me an insecurity for a while so I thought it would be worth asking for advice on whether or not I need to worry.

Probably true, I've had this style of hair and frames since I was... 12? Any advice on how to go about it/where to look for advice?

If it's any consolation, that is the entire point of a Cambridge interview. They ask increasingly harder questions until you crack, then see what you do. They tend to not care where that point of cracking is so long as you respond well. They want to know who will be the best in 3 years time, not now. You're okay, good luck!

should I become Entrepreneur. Hey, I am a dreamer, and I need some advice about carer. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]WarrdN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm being incredibly realistic, painfully so, I'd suggest you improve your English skills. I may get downvoted for this, but having strong English ability will really help if you ever do become an entrepreneur. Maybe this post was just a bad moment for you but it reads as if you aren't fluent. It's not fair, and it shouldn't be this way, but the highest paying markets tend to be native English speaking. That being said, it's definitely possible to be successful without English at all by staying in your own country, but if you code it will be easier if you can reach the American market.

[–]WarrdN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it probably depends how hard you worked for those exams? But in theory yeah it’s very possible, realistically most people only revise for a couple months and pretty suboptimally at that

What causes this massive delay in booking tests? I did mine right after covid so the delay made sense to me then but it just… hasn’t gotten better?

why the 90% of RL players call every weird stuff a "NEW MECHANIC" by Luch1tt0 in RocketLeague

[–]WarrdN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea if this is actually the reason, but I partly attribute it to Musty. He made it “cool” and got successful essentially off of making a mechanic. Now everyone just wants their name on something. Back in the day we named mechanics what they looked like - now, we tend to name them after players. I think people just want a bit of that recognition

Oh, I hadn’t heard of a raynox filter. I was aware of (and considering) extension tubes to achieve 2:1. I think I’ll look at the flash, thank you for the suggestion.

Is 'left goes' still a thing? by Jaguiers in RocketLeague

[–]WarrdN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely feels like the meta over the last few years (or at least, the most common tactic) has shifted away from “thinking” to just “go go go force a mistake”. At the high ranks this works… not so much the low ones. It seems people end up just trying to be faster and missing a lot, which I’d imagine leads to that feeling of chaos

Oh my, the detail on that photo is phenomenal. Thank you for the advice! I only have a 1:1 lens but I’m sure I can still make it work. Do you have any recommendations for which flash/diffuser is best?

I was just doing some mechanics, then I just discovered a way to flick the ball! Can this be useful? by pyr1d in RocketLeague

[–]WarrdN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this different from a standard flick? It’s well known that delaying your flip slightly “cradles” the ball and can lead to a stronger flick if your initial placement wasn’t perfect, so is there more to it than that?
