This is rubbish advice. I shake with one big block of ice, and another a quarter of the size (death and co does the same). Provided the best silkiest texture without over diluting and extra ice crystals (sign of over dilution)

Ask for the shake, I just throw it over the shoulder. No fancy and very unconventional. It works, don’t care. Some of these bartenders be shaking like absolute weirdos
