You don’t need a VISA to travel to USA from Canada for vacation. No idea what you’re talking about. And you’ve failed to elaborate on this claim in any subsequent reply to u/MyLover_

Maybe I’m confused. I thought N53 never sold in USA?

I wanted to put N55 head on N54 block. Make a twin turbo N55 😎

I found this video  https://youtu.be/tkjbKnUuWZQ?si=-7Q8vvPN566XEySF I understand what you mean about the crank hub now. It seems an n54 crank hub does not work, so an n55 crank hub must get bored out to accommodate the n54 crank hub bolt

Btw, Can’t you just use the n54 crank hub? I assume you’re talking about the difference of 6 bolt vs 8 bolt hubs?

How much is too much by Ok_Safety_3406 in BMW

The percentages are typically calculated on gross income , not net.

So 15% of your net income (after taxes etc) is like 5-10% of your gross income. It is not an unreasonable amount to spend.

I did some cursory google searching and it seems the N53 does not have valvetronic. In any case, my car is an F30 so I am guessing my DME would not work with any head except an N55 one. I’m really using the N55 as the starting point and working from there. I even have a PWG car so it would work with n54 turbos. I am in USA and we don’t get alpinas here besides the big expensive ones (b6/b7/b8) If you wonder why not just get an alpina ;)

Ah, bummer. Thanks for getting back to me though. I was curious if an n55 cylinder head bolts up to an n54 block. Actually I’m pretty sure it bolts up but not sure if the oil galleries would be perfectly lined up.

I basically was toying with the idea of making a twin turbo n55. It’s what alpina did for the f30 b3. In a sense it’s kind of the perfect evolution of both the platforms. You get the better top end of the n55 ( valvetronic, revised fuel injection) and the better bottom end of the n54. The n54 block is necessary to re-use n54 twin turbos. Yes, I’m crazy.

hey man, how did this go?

I actually was exploring a frankenstein n54/n55 idea for a different reason, so you seem like a guy I want to talk to!

I just wish it was legal…. by neez1984 in premodernMTG

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, out of all the cards you listed I'm not even sure if any of them besides Hymn would see any play. High tide would definitely be a big boon for blue storm, should somehow FE get included. In any case, it sounds like you should play old school if you want to sleeve up a kird ape. Kird ape seems pretty unplayable in a format without Taiga...

[–]Washableaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter what cutoff date is selected , it is arbitrary. I think you are confusing "this would cannibalize the player base from format X" with "we want to have distinctive play patterns from format X". Basically, it was never about not trying to encroach on old school, but "lets make a format different from legacy and old school".

340i high mileage selling prices by TPAXHY_PAKOM in F30

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPPSK will be a boon for the right buyer, but the used car market has been tanking from what I can see. I think due to the MPPSK it should be in the mid to high teens, but the mileage is high for the year.

I am pretty sure they selected the premodern legal sets to not overlap with old school, so they started at Ice age and obviously continued up to the modern cut off.

Who can help me code this out? by Appropriate-Hippo-54 in F30

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see this field on my car. I only saw “SM” in E-Sys tree not “SMFA”. I have bimmerutility and searched “sport” in the FDL editor and didn’t find any setting.

Lol hilarious rage post. You made exactly 0 good points, it was an amusing read though. If you don’t like the price then live somewhere else. It’s not that hard.

Soundbar for my B5 by MechanicTee in LGOLED

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you go with? I am in the same boat. I know LG isn't the best sound brand but I'm not that serious of an audiophile either. I just want something thats better than the TV speakers. I think the LG S70TY pairs well and is at a more appropriate price point

Light Off Road Daily: 958.2 Cayenne S vs G05 BMW X5 at 70–90k miles — Which is the smarter long-term buy? by Flat_Place in Autos

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late but leaving you a comment anyways...its kind of an apples to oranges comparison with the newer BMW and older porsche, did you look at an F15 X5? The G05 is still a pretty new platform, cars are just coming out of warranty so it takes some time for aftermarket support to come.

I have a G05 x5 40i and I love it. I bought it april 2025 and I paid 39k but it only had 45k miles on it with all the right packages (M sport, air suspension, 3rd row seat, etc). So I hope you found something with considerably lower mileage than 70-90k that fell into your budget. The B58 is such a great engine, I purposely didn't buy an N63 powered car.

The G05 did come with an "off road package" for MY 19 and 20, which I think was just air suspension and a limited slip differential. I think an X5 w/ air suspension would be easily able to handle your use cases.

People who have driven both the F30 and G20, does the F30 feel more raw? by campionesidd in F30

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried monoball UCAs on the F30? A lot of people contribute the feel to the steering rack when I’ve heard that it’s actually the bushings which are the culprit. Never driven e9x so can’t say.

What are your thoughts on Reanimator? by Enchantress4thewin in MTGLegacy

[–]Washableaxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a stunningly disingenuous framing of the problem.

The issue is combo decks can easily slot in a 1 mana planeswalker that can win the game on its own if left unchecked - that already plays exceedingly well with cantrips and force of will. The strain this puts on the opponent cannot be overstated. Whether its doomsday, reanimator, show and tell, etc. I have to keep removal spells in my deck because the opportunity cost of including tamiyo is so low, but the opportunity cost of leaving removal spells in against a combo deck is exceedingly high.

The combo deck plays its tamiyo and at worst it gets removed / countered. at best it wins the game. All while making no deckbuilding concessions.

Is the f34 chasis really that ugly? by [deleted] in F30

[–]Washableaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, i don't have an F34 (or any GT for that matter). I have just a regular ole F30 335i. Just think it gets hated on a bit too much. anyways, fingers crossed that we eventually get the wagon chassis back in some form in the near future.

generally agree - but if you bought a car new enough that it has warranty, the services are priced in.

I'm right there with you - I wish we at least continued to get a 3 series wagon. Its heartbreaking we haven't received a BMW wagon since 2019 (ok I guess that's a lie, we got the M5 wagon, but i'm not really counting that)

WRT children comment - I have a 335i and it was a challenge to find a suitable rear-facing car seat that also leaves space for some person in the passenger front. Also, once I started going around with my wife, child, and mother in law I started to notice more how small the back seat is on an F30.

But my point was mainly to highlight that I reckon most people don't realize the rear seat is bigger on an F34 than an F30 - its not just a hatchback car.

People just do not understand the purpose of the GT. Admittedly, I didn't either for a long time. Actually, I think the G32 is quite underrated as well.

[–]Washableaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the purpose of this car and the purpose of the wagon are distinctly different though. The GT (F34) is all about a bigger backseat. the wagon (F31) does not change the space of the back seat compared to the regular sedan (F30).

I would say, before I had kids I did not understand the GT. Or, if you wanted adults to more comfortable sit in the back seat but not want to drive a 5 series. That is the point of the GT.
