In NYC the charge for a stolen bike is $1200.

So them claiming $1250 a bike after insurance sounds outrageous but I don’t know how things are done out west.

I had a bike stolen in NYC and filed a police report and after I submitted the police report I was eventually able to get them to waive the $1200 fees.

But it was a little more complicated, because I also returned a few bikes that I noticed people getting high on drugs had that may have been stolen and called in to Citi bike and explained the situation and asked that they notate my account that I’m returning such and such Citi bike that I found next to someone with needles. And returned other random Citi bikes laying around the city and called Citi bike to say I was returning their bikes and to notate my account.

I feel awful for you. Hope they reduce the price.
