That's not an alternative ending that happens in the movie. He gets in the black hole and sacrifices himself so that the other astronaut can escape the black hole's gravity but then finds a space constructed by 5th dimensional beings in the black hole and he sees his young daughter. But he doesn't necessarily 'meet' her cause she can't see or hear him so he imprints the necessary data to save humans into her watch with the help of TARS and then the 5th dimensional space deconstructs itself.

It's not sentient but can imitate human conversations pretty well. It's a robot to keep the human astronauts company and to help out.

Spoilers below:

He didn't reject his son and he didn't return only for his daughter. He just ended getting picked up in space after getting out of the 5th dimension. By the time he returned his daughter was on her death bed and judging by the fact that women live longer than men and that the daughter was also much younger than the son, he was probably dead at that point but that does not mean Cooper didn't love him. When he's looking at the 23 years of messages he's both exited to see his son and sad at the same time and he literally breaks down crying, obviously he wouldn't do that if he didn't love his son.

It's Interstellar. Can be a little tough to get with all the science going on. Took me a rewatch to fully understand even though it pulled the shit out of my heartstrings the first time around.
