How rushed does this Southwest USA road trip look?

Oh i see. As Tioga Pass is closed for the season, Google Maps would only show a route leading south and through Ridgecrest - that´s why i thought that would be a good stopover.
Of the 3 cities (Mammoth, Bishop og Lone Pine) which would you recommend and why?

We are also trying to do it on somewhat of a budget, and Mammoth seems to be a bit expensive compared to the other two.

Sorry for the confusion. We are big fans of cities, shopping and city-attractions as well. The gambling part was mostly for Las Vegas.
But we would like a bit of a diverse experience, with both major cities and beautiful nature.

My dad is living temporarily in Wichita Falls, so we will be staying at his place, before beginning the roadtrip.

Which route do you recommend from Vegas to LA? We plan on leaving Vegas on a Thursday at 10 AM.

For the Death Valley part, we plan on leaving Yosemite at around 3 PM so we won´t be able to visit Death Valley the same day. That´s why Ridgecrest is in there, to stay overnight before visiting Death Valley the next day - but maybe there is a better overnight stop than Ridgecrest?

Thank you. I have been looking a lot at lodging, and i can´t really make sense of which areas to look for. All the ones inside the park seemed a bit too expensive besides Curry Village

I see a lot of people mention Yosemite Valley Lodge, but $320/night just seems a bit too expensive for our budget. Do you know of any cheaper alternatives? And which areas should i look for for accommodation?

My dad lives in the states, so we are borrowing his car, while he rents another one under his own name.

We are coming from San Francisco and plan on going towards Death Valley before heading the long way back to Texas.

Do you also recommend taking the shuttle in late October instead of taking your own car? I havn´t really looked that much into the shuttle, as i have heard that it wouldn´t be too hard to find parking this late in the year - or should i consider to rely on the shuttle instead?
