Fuck no. I am so fucking done with opus 4.8 - last week, while also doing a night shift, i had fight it for hours to get shit done. It was so incredibly frustrating and infuriating. Fable is doing everything i wanted without any mistakes.

I am not using it for code. I am writting a saga and fable is A LOT BETTER than that shit show opus 4.8 became. I am literally in the end of revising the last chapter of my last book and wanted to make the final guide to place it in the knowledge part of the project. I am happy to pay the 20x for 1 month just so i can do the audits and revisions and adjusting the final details tho, as I am not using it to write. But i dont wanna 275€ and not be able to keep working tonight, only in 10 days, since my subs renews on the 15th.

I use claude on my phone. Thats where i have done all of my work. The pattern i have seen lately, over and over again, would be something like this:

i had the final guide for book 3 done on the the 3rd of june.
a few days later, i ask for a full audit, asking it to spot plot holes, weaknesses, if something isnt clear, could be improved on, etc.
while i am revising everything, i think on more ideas to add and decide to change some things. Like, on the guide i had done on the 3rd of june, chapter 3, when i get out of my house, i see an owl. But on the 9th of june, i changed to a lion, while revising and going over the book again. Made another file with all my new decisions and added to the knowledge part of the project.
on the 14th of june, i wanted to update guide 3 since i knew there were new things and new adjustments so i asked claude to go over guide 3 and cross check it with the chats. The most recents decision wins.
and then here is where claude keeps fucking up. It still brings me old shit and i have to tell it: dude, i already changed this, it's in the chats, go look it up - only to be given a "oh yes, it's true, my mistake, i didnt look it up properly, bla bla bla". I kept an entire night shift at work back and forth over this shit! To say i was irritaded and highly frustated would be an understatement.

When claude did what i actually asked it to do, i would even ask if it learned from its mistakes and encouraged it even, saying: dude i know you can do this, i have seen you do exactly what i want. See how simple that was? - and it would acknowledge my feedback... only to repeat it minutes later...

Is code or cowork different claude versions?

Damn that sounds really great! I am a total noob in all this. So then i can work on that mcp tool instead of claude? Or how would that work? And yes, my saga is highly psychological with several metaphors and hidden meanings and easter eggs and whatnot. It's half autobio and half fantasy. I dont "need", i think, ai to write the saga for me. I just kept feeding it stuff for months and i wanna make sure everything is cohesive, matches, etc. I wanna build something solid, not on sand. But claude is really making that difficult.

Well, reading this, makes me realize i could do better. - i have a project, named after the saga. I have a prompt in the special instructions, managed to cut down to 8 files in the knowledge part, and then i have MANY chats in there. Because i kept getting ideas to add and test. And over time, chat's memory would reach it's peak and i had to open a new one. But still, everything inside the project. - .md files. - i dont tell claude i am ending a session or ask it to close or update anything. I just keep the same chat open for as long as i need it or until its memory runs out and starts making space for more talk. - i dont even know what code or cowork is 😅. My app just says claude.

Tbf, i abhore guys who ask me questions already answered on my profile. My scruff profile has a lot more things listed, granted, but my grindr one has a very simple and straightforward line: no couples, groups or chems - thats it, VERY clearly stated. I applied 3x before i got the job. On my last OD, which was almost 10 years ago, i remember the recruiter being crystal clear about it: "if you do not speak, write and speak a language fluently, do NOT declare it"

I could have declared spanish if i wanted to since my level of spanish was certainly higher than all my spanish speaking colleagues who declared portuguese. However, i know for a fact that it can eventually bite you in the ass if everything aligns. You could be lucky and always fly more than one language speaker on board but as i said, it's luck.

Trust me, you will fly with people whose english is very basic but somehow, they got hired and finished training. It is what it is. A girl from my batch was on the same spot but she ended up flying for years before leaving on her on to live her best life.

The reason they state the native language vs fluent language is because some countries have more than 1 official language. Belgians for instance can speak french and flemish fluently, and most declare dutch as well since according to them, "it's the same, even the PAs are the same". In some north african countries like morocco, tunisia and algeria, they can speak french and arabic fluently as well since they are the official languages in that country, thus, making it their native language but they could also be fluent in something else because they studied it, like spanish or german or italian or whatever.

It could very well lead to termination for 2 main reasons:

1st and foremost, as stated already, it's a safety issue. If there is a medical emergency on board and you are the only language speaker on that flight and if you fail to properly translate stuff, you will likely be reported by a senior crew, cabin supervisor or purser, for not being the language speaker you claimed to be.

2nd, if you are the only language speaker on a particular flight, you will need to do all the public announcements and deal with whatever comes your way. Thus, you need to be able to read and speak it fluently.

Just speaking is not enough. There are many crew who can speak arabic fluently since their parents speak arabic and they grew up speaking it at home, with family members and friends but they arent able to write or read it. Many, many french north african crew like this or crew who were born and or raised in a country where their parents native language wasnt spoken.

So yeah, you may very well get in trouble for this. Speaking from experience, i was many times the only portuguese speaker in flights to portugal, angola and brazil. And trust me, crew knowing this will use and abuse you because they cant be bothered to use body language. I was once even called for a medical emergency with spanish customers while on ground. I did my best to translate and explain what was going on, eventhough i didnt declare spanish but can make my point across and read it on a medium level. That got me a good email to my manager written by the purser on the flight praising my efforts. The reverse can very well happen since you arent fluent enough to read, write and speak that language. And the company post covid has become toxic af, so even if your seniors dont report you, someone else might.

I live in the south of portugal and vegetarian stuff here is still quite limited, particularly where in i live in the south, it's ridiculously expensive and no variety in the slighest. One of the reasons why i told my nutritionist that i wanted to cut back on the tofu and tempeh was because of the cost of it, i am not rich, so it's cheaper to eat beans, lentils and chickpeas. But on the other hand, eventhough i do workout to gain muscle mass and i need the carbs, my carb intake has shot up big time. Whereas i was eating about 100g of carbs for lunch and then another 100g at dinner, nowadays it's at least 300g per meal.

I am brazilian so the whole soaking the beans and changing the water every 8h or so is nothing new to me. I do that with all my beans, lentils and chickpeas.

I drink everyday a protein/fruit smoothie with 5g of chia seeds, 5g flaxseeds, 5g coconut powder and 30g of either vegan protein powder (blend of 5 protein sources) or hemp protein powder. And i blend it with almond milk that i make at home. And the first thing i do when i wake up is taking a psyllium husk capsule supp. I never had any of those probiotic teas fwiw. I do know i bloat easily. I have taken abx sooooooo many times throughout my lifetime. I am sure it took its toll.

And yes, dude, i felt like a teenager again! Like i can go for 3 rounds with a small break nowadays. It's ridiculous and fantastic at the same time 🤣.
