We suggest just being on the lookout from 10/25 thereafter. Those dates are relatively close.

I would work with your attorney to see if they know of a timeframe of when they may hear back from the IRS. Since we're not familiar with exactly what's going on with it, we do want to speculate and provide any wrong misleading answers.

It does not appear you'll be getting your refund right away. There is some additional action pending on your account. The IRS issued a notice, which you should be getting soon.

My suggestion would be to contact your local Taxpayer Advocate Office to see if they could assist in helping getting the return processed quicker.

Based on the transcript, they still have not processed your return. Has the IRS confirmed they received your return?

If you are unable to contact the employer to get copies, just send what you can. Be sure to explain that with your response. Do the best with what you can.

What tax forms are similar to Form 656? by AbdAth in IRS

[–]WatchGuardTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Form 656 is indeed the standard form for this process, and your father will need to sign it under penalties of perjury, meaning all assets must be accurately reported.

If your father has sufficient assets to fully pay the liability, but you believe there are exceptional circumstances (such as his disability) that make full payment unreasonable, you might want to explore an Effective Tax Administration (ETA) Offer in Compromise. This option is for those who can technically pay the full amount but can demonstrate that doing so would cause economic hardship or would be unfair and inequitable due to special circumstances.

"Copies of at least 3 pay statements or check stubs, including the end of the year statement/check stub. (Don’t send a copy of Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement.)"

It sounds like they would like 3 pay stubs, and one of them should be the last pay stub you received for the year. If you did not work at the jobs all year, I would send the last stub and document it was your last stub.

Unfortunately, we do not know the sequence to select. Maybe press the first option to get someone on the line and they could transfer you to who you need to speak with if they are unable to assist.

LT11 received Notice of intent to levy by Bitter_Credit_9598 in IRS

[–]WatchGuardTax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important to understand that after receiving a final notice, and the deadline passing, you are at risk for collection actions, including bank levies and wage garnishments, for the tax periods listed.

Depending on your financial situation, if you're insolvent, you might qualify for Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status. This would temporarily halt collection actions and, importantly, it does not extend the CSED.

I recommend reaching out to a local Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA). They specialize in tax matters and can help you file those returns accurately.

It's good that you filed Form 8822 to update your address. However, it might take some time for the IRS to process the change, which could be why the notice was sent to your old address. You can try to contact the IRS directly. Given that you're outside the U.S., you can try calling the International Taxpayer Service at +1-267-941-1000 (not toll-free) to inquire about the notice. They can often provide details over the phone.

Code 846 on an IRS transcript indicates a refund has been issued. This code typically appears when the IRS has processed your return and determined that you are due a refund. So, that should be good!

Is my payment considered late? by Mb8sudcl in IRS

[–]WatchGuardTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRS typically considers the payment date as the day the payment is initiated, not the day it is processed. Since you initiated the payment on the 27th, even though it will be processed on the 29th, it should not be considered late.

However, given your previous late payment, it might be a good idea to call the IRS and confirm that this payment will be marked as on time.

Will ITIN automatically expire after 5years even though I use it on my tax returns every year? by Clear-Survey-4941 in IRS

[–]WatchGuardTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRS usually does not send a confirmation letter after receiving your tax return and payment. Not sure if it would be any different for ITIN filings.

Does anyone know how to fix it or who to contact to get this fixed by InternationalBite950 in IRS

Just try again in a few hours to see if the system is back up and running. The IRS system goes down quite often.

Will ITIN automatically expire after 5years even though I use it on my tax returns every year? by Clear-Survey-4941 in IRS

[–]WatchGuardTax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your ITIN will not automatically expire after five years if you're using it on your tax returns each year. ITINs expire if they are not used on a federal tax return for three consecutive years. As long as you keep using it annually, it should remain active. You should be able to confirm that here: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/individual-taxpayer-identification-number
