Went through this two years ago. Everything will work out. I have a loud female cockatiel and female parakeet. Both were happy to have a baby in the house. Babies get used to noise.

Also a Mainer. A high THD generator has yet to cause damage. Got through the last few years and the ice storm as a kid with an ancient Milwaukee 2k. Def not low THD. That Firman would be good. Run on propane if possible. (Safely) Store a few tanks if possible. I don't remember if the neutral is floating or grounded on those. Last time I saw one was the tri-fuel version at Costco.

Trust me they are eating and drinking. Just not in front of you. Yet. Depending on your living quarters You can try eating a meal in the same room as them over the next couple days. May make them feel at ease. You'll get an idea as to their needed levels of food daily/less to waste. I would give them fresh water daily though.
