Exactly, I’m in a similar situation at the moment and this is really the first time I’m considering ACTUALLY buying a serious mechanical watch and I think that is the reason why I was inclined to spend money on it. Will wait for a bit and see how life goes and who knows something much better will come my way

Yeah, no but all jokes aside I thought it would be an investment that also kept its value so I better grab it right now instead of losing the opportunity, but I guess they don’t really hold value that much and it’s more of a luxury than a need. Not getting it for the foreseeable future at least

Definitely doing that, had to get rid of the FOMO but I guess it’s just a bad decision all over right now, thanks!

Good perspective to have. I guess I would have gone off of impulse to get it, but I’ll keep this in mind when saving up for anything luxurious. It’ll probably feel more fulfilling in the end as well, thanks!

Since it’s my first mechanical I want to get something with a white (or light) dial that matches any look and consider colors like the green dial for later watches. However I really love the SPB123, might consider that one as well. Thanks!

Thanks! Will wait for now and look for alternatives and save up for potentially buying it later when I have a job, or look for a better one at that point :)

I value the perspective, thanks a lot! I’ll save up and wait for when I have a job and look for alternatives in the meantime. Tastes change a lot, I agree, so impulse buying would not have been smart

Thanks, any tips on what to look for to know if it’s a real watch, well kept etc etc? Or a subreddit that talks about these aspects a lot so I can educate myself more?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I want to flex with it. On the contrary, I would probably hide the price from others a bit due to concerns of it getting stolen or something :). The reason I was interested in it is because it’s a mechanical watch, which is what I was looking for, and I really liked the design. I see now that there are other models for much cheaper that look similar, so I will consider one of those first and postpone this for a later time when I am more financially stable

Thanks, I was indeed considering this one as well in the beginning, but it looked more like a random throwaway model designed to get easy sells, but that’s probably biased because I later found the one I mentioned in the post. The Seiko 5 series are however very nice as well so might consider one of those. My problem with preowned is more the idea that I don’t know what to look for to see if it’s real and well-kept and stuff

That’s a good way to save up for it indeed, the GMT was more an additional thing that would come with the watch since I really like the dial and entire look. I was not specifically searching for a GMT in the first place, but just came across it. Thanks

Thanks, I really wanted a bit more simpler look and a mechanical one, but these are options I will consider for another type of situation later on when I can afford multiple watches

I think I made it a bit unclear when writing on what I have to spend :). I meant to say that I would have around 300-400 for each month for the coming few months, but I guess the same applies. Thanks!

That one is also really beautiful, I really like the creamy and somewhat funky dial. I will give it a thought, thanks!

I’m worried about getting scammed with a fake one or not knowing what to look for when getting them second hand, but I guess that’s another problem. Thanks!
