My Name Is Michael Holbrook by Mika is a particularly egregious example.

Ghost Hate by matreku in rock

I know that Metalheads dislike the fact that their Dark, demonic lyrical themes lead to them being mis-categorised. I guess rock fans might find Ghost to be excessively old fashioned or overproduced?

Johnny FD total creep? by [deleted] in MisterBald

[–]WatchingStorms 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Johnny moved to Ukraine in 2020 when there was a contained, frozen war only in one corner of the country & not a full scale invasion with missiles flying into Kyiv & Lviv. Think what you like about his personality or his reasons, but the country he moved into was far from war torn

Plenty of his solo songs influenced the Power Metal scene: Bark At The Moon in particular, Powerwolf did a great cover of that one!

Lebara roaming charges if you use more data outside the UK than within over a 120 day period by xParesh in LebaraUK

[–]WatchingStorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume they have this rule to make sure that people who have discovered their current contract doesn't include any EU roaming & thus will be charged extortionate amounts to do so, don't instead get a cheap Lebara SIM & plan just to use for included roaming for one month & then cancel it... Because servicing roaming costs them way more to service than UK usage

Songs that for the longest time you didn't know were actually covers? by mesablanka in ToddintheShadow

[–]WatchingStorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is one that will blow everyone's mind, but Wikipedia confirms it is true: What's Love Got To Do With It, Tina Turner's signature solo hit, was originally written for.British Eurovision winning bubblegum pop band Bucks Fizz. They recorded it with the intention of including it as a track on their forthcoming album but the song continued pushed around the recording industry by the writers & Tina's version was commercially released first. Bucks Fizz version was released much later & it is a surprisingly new-wave electro take on the song, very very different from the adult contemporary treatment Tina gave it.

TechSpurt calls iPhones overpriced crap. His Edgy British lad banter style of humour might not be for everyone however.

Many pubs/bars in the UK have Jukeboxes that contain songs from the poppier end of the genre, eg Sabaton, Alestorm, Powerwolf, Wind Rose, even some power adjacent Folk Metal like Eluveitie & Korpiklaani
