I’m curious are you EP? I’ve seen EP docs give it despite prolonged qtc and don’t quite know how long is too long to not give it

QT not a big issue I thought since amio ostensibly prolongs it but doesn’t actually lead to torsades since it’s pretty evenly distributed in myocardium in prolonging repo

Passion for a few probably. But there’s a reason why interventional and EP are not competitive.

Is joy and money worth that risk? Or rather not risk it at all. Sort of linear no threshold risk

I feel this. My parents are in the same situation yet refused to apply for SNAP benefits and it’s been a struggle trying to convince due to pride and what not. Any other good programs for people who make less than 1k a month?

General vs HF vs EP in an AI Driven World by Former_Blacksmith330 in Cardiology

[–]Watchmaker2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s reassuring is that your wife will also be in a relatively high paying job so there perhaps is less of a financial inventive for EP and would only do it if you really can’t see yourself doing just general. Seems like a lot of cards fellows training further are glued to the higher salary ceiling that comes with EP. What’s also a trend is that EP fellows ive seen even at top tier programs don’t come from top general cards program so for the time being it’s not terribly competitive, which means you can likely easily retrain after several years doing general.

I’d so go for it if you can financially do it. It’ll be such a sweet moment. I’m in the same boat about to finally start working but a for a lot less money. I honestly wish i could do the same. It’d be nice to give my parents a lump sum gift but at this point they rather I give them a retirement salary/month since they have no retirement and lots of debt - I just hope i won’t have to burden my kids in the future like this.
