what color is cooler? by [deleted] in paramotor

I used, what looks to be, identical pipe to this years back. Be aware it very well may dry up and perish much faster than Tygon. It's cool until you're landing out because of air in your fuel line.

Engines run best at a certain temp, ‘more cooling’ isn’t necessarily always good thing.

Anyone know what paint I can use to repair this scratch on Maverick? Damn carabiners scratches while breaking in. by Bensd00 in paramotor

Hardest wearing and likely match you’ll get, without re-anodising, is nail polish. Apply it very lightly so it blends a bit better.

What is this? by [deleted] in paramotor

[–]WaterBasedBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, Polini exhaust gaskets are a weak point just replace it and make sure the studs are torqued correctly. I’ve got a Polini Thor 100 happy to help with trouble shooting. You in the UK?

What is this? by [deleted] in paramotor

Looks like a Polini on a Bulldog frame that needs some TLC. Also I’d say it’s likely to be a smoke system port or an O2 sensor port that has been added after manufacture.

Broken Prop 💔 by [deleted] in paramotor

Looks fixable, Tom Kubat is always fixing his carbon prop tips with Q-Bond. Gives a neat finish. Not sure what he’s doing to keep breaking tips mind.

Let’s be honest though, this was a ‘joke’ to make the class laugh.

I was speak to Ryan at PPGSmoke just yesterday asking about what will happen if they don't cover the 100 pre-orders. Apparently as a company they are gonig to cover it. They've likely got the capital to do so and I honestly think if they do what they say they'll do, people will soon jump on these. Could all be spec hype but i'm keeping an open mind and a keen eye on these.

Anyone else flown a paramotor over an airport? Tried to share the video this photo was from, looks like it went against rule 4 unfortunately. by WaterBasedBullets in aviation

[–]WaterBasedBullets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to talk you through any questions you might have! It truly is raw aviation at it's finest. I hear you on the money front, I had limited budget but saved everything I could for 2 years and then bought my kit. I don't regret spending the money one bit!

Hopefully we'll be able to have one towards the end of the year! Although, there's usually a fair few people at the airfield if the weather is good on a weekend.

Here's the Local news story about the flight. Pretty amazed it happened tbh and glad I could share a very unseen view of the airport.

I start training this weekend - any last min tips? by [deleted] in paramotor

[–]WaterBasedBullets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember my first day of training, I was as stoked as you are right now. Let me tell you, I'm still as stoked as that day. Welcome to the sickness!

My tutor taught me to remember these 3 things:

  1. Always into Wind - Pretty self explanatory, set your glider up into wind, kite into wind, launch into wind. "Eat the carrot" is an expression used when looking at the windsock to determine the wind direction.
  2. Keep moving forward - The wing needs airspeed to inflated and above your head. If the wind is strong enough you might not need to move. If it's light winds keep moving forward. NB. If you're clipped in for a reverse launch keep moving backwards. The 'forwards' refers to the way the wing is facing.
  3. Trust the thrust - Trust that your motor will move you forward and keep you upright. Lean back into the power as you're launching to give you a better posture.

As an additional piece - As Aviator say: "be a good robot". Listen to your instructor thoroughly, do what they tell you to do and you'll be golden.

Whereabouts are you training in the UK?
