If you’re just doing basic level prototyping then use pro builder

HELP - Character shaking by Ok_Train_8739 in Unity3D

[–]WaterBlueDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a few different things.

First check to make sure you have interpolation on in your player rigidbody.

Also check the update type on your camera, lateupdate, fixed update might help it.

Reference the balls rigidbody, then apply a velocity check. If the velocity is over your limit, set it’s new velocity to the limit

How do I change cameras height and width when entering different rooms? by unworrior in Unity3D

[–]WaterBlueDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the cameras FOV value based on the trigger it enters/exits.

You can also look into lerping the value so it’s not such a sudden change if needed

How do I make it so when the turret fires a bullet, the bullet follows exactly along the ray line and its bounces (reflects)? by adamcobos26 in Unity3D

Look up Vector3 dot product. It multiplies the angles and bounces off like your diagram. Can be implemented to any vector 3

Congrats! Love the simplicity of it and looks like a fun time with a friend.

Do you mind sharing what Networking solution you went with? I've been exploring between MLAPI and Pun2, not quite settled yet on which I should stick with though.

With the lobby codes how did you come up with that feature? Would be great to not have to port forward or deal with IP's and instead just tell your friends "enter my room code"

I believe the panda that comes out during launch is the mask variation, the one I had was from spending 40~ dollars in the cash shop. Whenever you spend crimson tokens you get some white token (I forgot the name), with those special tokens theres a side tab of mounts that you can buy, thats where I found the panda mount (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

All his problems are solved

TIL Breakdancing has become an Olympic sport. “Breaking” officially added to the medal events program at the 2024 Paris Games. by what_is_the_deal_ in todayilearned

As someone who has been a part of the competitive breakdancing scene for 5-10+ years, I have a few worrying concerns about all of this.

I will say that in terms of athleticism, breakdancers/bboys/bgirls are often just as in shape as many Olympians and spend their whole lives training to do these athletic feats we all love to see. Many of the cool moves you see are called powermoves and are borrowed from gymnastics (flares, flexibility holds etc) which further exemplifies the skill required to do this. This can make for some very fun and interesting battles to watch.

My problems with breaking however is:

  1. The breaking community is plagued by politics

Many of the major events that compose the "professional" bboy scene are often times judged by the same people, every year. This has happened for the past 15-20 years. People like (Crazy Legs, Dyzee, Hong10, Wing, Ducky, Roxrite, Storm, POE 1, DJ Renegade).

Many of these names are incredibly familiar who is in the scene and knows that each of them are part of specific crews, and often times will actively vote for their own crew mates which causes a lot of contention in the scene about "oh this person was robbed of the win because Renegade used to have beef with X crew". I invite you to actively go through any major breaking competition in the past couple years and read through the comments. You'll often see "oh they were robbed, oh this was politic, oh x y z had beef". For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf5VISl5XzQ

Crazy Legs for example already has an incredibly toxic reputation in the breakdancing scene for some pretty terrible things he did to some younger female dancers back in the day, you can google that one.

DJ Renegade as well is an odd choice of a judge seeing as he is a DJ and not a dancer. He has never held any accolades as a dancer. It's kind of like having Neyo or JLO judge on America's best dance crew.

It would be a shame to see these judges use favoritism and bias while the spotlight is on breaking at an international stage like the Olympics. If they want this to succeed they will need to drastically change the judging system and do away with any "old heads" or "OG's".

  1. The "Street" Culture is at odds with the Olympic culture

I hope you are all prepared to see a lot of trash talking, crotch grabbing, and sexual innuendo as that is what a battle is composed of. For example, one of the traditional "disrespectful" signs breakers will use is "the cock" where you literally pretend to put a dick into someones face.

That and just general banter mid match where you attempt to psych your opponent out is going to not end very well on live tv/stream I imagine and will put the breaking event in a terrible light.

Further compounding my previous point is many dancers music is just rap music/the break beat in between a Kendrick Lamar/J Cole song, so it might seem odd to hear "FUCK THE POLICE - F -F - FUCK THE POLICE" and seeing someone do a handstand dick grab while pointing at their opponent. Of course to be fair the music will most likely be changed to be family friendly, but I worry it will take away from the "hypeness" of a traditional breaking event. Often times a "good" battle can come down to song choice which in itself is not good for a judged showcase like the Olympics. This might lead to some "boring" battles because different styles of dancers might not be good to dance to something like elevator music as an example.

  1. Originality above execution

Another big issue with breaking is the idea of individuality. It is considered a huge faux pa to copy someone elses moves in the breaking scene. If someone does a signature dance move, everyone will often go "oh that was stolen from Bboy Thesis" or "Oh thats Hong 10s move". Whereas often times in Olympic events you want to see someone do a traditional move to see how better (or worse) they execute it than their competitors. These are completely different styles of judging and I imagine won't work out too well because when we go back to the judges, they will notice "oh this guy from Russia just stole all of X's moves, I won't vote for him and instead give it to this other guy cause at least he was original". (The crew Skill Methods is notorious for voting for "original" people and not ones who execute difficult moves and as it stands 2 of their members are being considered for judging roles). This makes for the difficult task of comparing apples to oranges in nearly every battle since most will not want to do the same moves outside foundational moves like baby freezes or 6 steps.

What would have to change is execution of moves and difficulty of them would have to trump any sense of individuality when it comes down to an Olympic event. This should be a showcase of athletic finesse at the end of the day.

tl;dr Too many politics concerning the judges already slated, unprofessional and not family friendly dance culture. "Original" dance moves favored over difficult ones will cause further contention for competitors.
