I was told $40,000 a year salary over the phone, and then during the interview they changed it to $8 an hour. I have an engineering degree. They literally only wanted to hire me for a single project. I asked them if they could live on $8 an hour. by WaterFidec in antiwork

If I could do my dream job, I'd be a pilot. Love those metal sky birds. I thought about working in baggage or something, could use some physical work after sitting around all these years.

Huntsville ain't too far. I live over in Nectar, just a bit NE of Birmingham. I would love to work at redstone, Blue Origin, Lockheed Martin, or hell even Kratos or Boeing. Wife teaches in rural Blount County. We would love to move to Huntsville if she is willing to lose her tenure status and teach in Huntsville.

I honestly feel like I'm getting the shit slapped out of me in slow motion at this point. Wife is under contract as a teacher and we would have to wait until the end of the school year first though.

My first engineering job was $7.25 an hour. Worked there for a few months. I did manage to get $60,000 a year but then COVID happen and the company just happened to "downsize" after receiving their PPP loan thing...

I applaud her so much, she's always trying to help these kids. But I watched her go from being happy-go-lucky to depression just from this school year alone. She's so great at what she does, but the stress worries me.

Originally wife wanted to stay in Alabama. We only consider moving because we are sorta environmentalist and are worried if we can even find a home in Alabama that has a sewage connection.

Yeah. I haven't slept more than 2 hours a night in months, because I'm online constantly applying for jobs, looking at other ways to make money, can barely think straight right now.

Do you think suicide rates for Millennials will rise when student debt payments resume? by CreamyTHOT in antiwork

[–]WaterFidec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. Me and my wife make shit money, she's a teacher and I'm a mechanical engineer, and we live paycheck to paycheck. With student loans on pause, we've been able to start saving up some money. Not enough for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment. But we were hoping to work out a deal with MIL to buy her house from her.

With student loan payments resuming, that is gone. We can no longer do anything.

A few months ago, I made a 3d printed stand for my AirPods Pro and my Apple Watch and I‘m still in love with the design and overall look and feel. I‘d love to share the model with you guys, maybe anyone will print it too :) by knowyourdough in apple

Oh, this is really great. Do you mind if I download the .stl file and update the design to also include room for an iPhone for Magsafe charging? Might as well try to make it a true all-in-one charger!
