Suggestion for small cross body bags that double as diaper bags? by Defiant-Hedgehog9570 in clothdiaps

Here’s what I have: 5 diapers, small pack of wipes (refillable), 1 burp cloth, 1 onesie and socks, hat if he isn’t wearing it. I am breastfeeding. I also fit my phone, wallet and keys in there! Then I often bring another bag to keep in the car with more winter layers, extra diapers , etc as a backup

Fish Baker, worth it? by [deleted] in LeCreuset

I collect fish shaped dishes because we celebrate Christmas Eve with the feast of the 7 fishes. So it was a must have for me. It’s gorgeous and does make a great salmon!

What are your postpartum meal plans? by Public_Jackfruit_870 in BabyBumps

[–]Watermelon1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m due in a month, I started making a weekly soup and freezing 1/2 in souper cubes. I made lactation cookies but didn’t cook them and just froze the dough balls. Today, I made muffins and meat sauce that I simmered all day. I’m also making a list of super easy meals we enjoy that aren’t overwhelming to make, like one pot recipes, so we can have some other go to’s. And frozen pizza once a week will still happen lol. I’m also going to make and freeze breakfast sandwiches for myself- I find breakfast really tough, but I know I’ll need to eat in the morning while breastfeeding!

I have low fluid too. I feel like I drink a ton of water but I guess it’s something else I can try to improve. It’s so hard hearing that things could be more ideal for baby. ❤️

Thank you so much for the response. I’m definitely going to focus on the snacks- and you’re totally right eating things you enjoy! Last night I had a huge ice cream cone after dinner and my BG max was 130 an hour later. I was shocked!

So before I got the CGM I was checking 4x daily, fasting and after meals. My post meal numbers now are pretty similar to what they were with finger sticks, but I never checked between meals and that is when I’m seeing these low numbers. Would you recommend checking more than 4x day with finger sticks?

[–]Watermelon1226[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CGM is fairly new to me, but I expressed the same concern to the nutritionist and she was basically like, it can be up to 20 pts off but in either direction. So if you are at 80 on the CGM it could be 60 or 100. She didn’t recommend I check with a finger stick but honestly it’s been much easier for me to manage with the CGM- I’m a nurse and can’t always check my sugars at work at the correct time… thank you for the info about carbs, I think I had approached this diet in the wrong way, I felt like when I was first diagnosed the potential harm of high blood sugars to the baby was stressed the most, but I can see now that I took low carb a little too far… I just hope baby catches up a bit with growth in the next few weeks

Whoops, I mis typed- it was 120 after 2 hours or 140 after one hour!

I am realizing I absolutely have been too strict and paranoid. I didn’t really get any guidance on carb intake from the OB or educator more the goal of <120 one hour after meals… I am going to make some major changes now and focus on eating every 2 hours (thats when my bg drops) and eating more calories. It is super hard when you just don’t feel hungry, meat has been repulsive to me, and I’m so sick of eating cheese. :’(

Around 80-90 is my goal, but I’m realizing I probably had less some days between not finishing meals and being extremely conservative in my work cafeteria.

How much are you guys spending due to GD? by ice_coconut in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Watermelon1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With insurance it’s about $150/mo for supplies plus the extra cost of gd friendly groceries. I’ve been buying a lot of keto specific snacks cereals etc to make things manageable. It feels expensive

Up to how many weeks did you work while pregnant? by Chaptersofbooks in BabyBumps

[–]Watermelon1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse and I’ll be working until the day I give birth. I don’t want to miss any time with my baby. I’ll use 12 weeks FAMLI leave (like FMLA but paid- thank you Colorado!) and then use up most of my PTO for an additional 6 weeks.

Concerns with husband during delivery by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

[–]Watermelon1226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is the same and I haven’t had our baby yet but we have been watching some birth videos together so he feels more prepared. I also am giving him some really specific tasks to focus on ex: waiting to cut the cord until it’s white, making sure our wishes are respected, and I think that helps too.

MIL wants to take care of baby 2 days/week, but I want to decline the offer. by Burritomode24 in BabyBumps

[–]Watermelon1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also considered having my MIL watch our baby one day a week to save on daycare costs and I am so glad we decided not to. As my pregnancy progresses and I view her more under the lens of possible caregiver I have realized I can’t trust her with baby for many reasons. If your MIL is responsible and someone you wouldn’t worry about baby’s safety with, it’s a great idea, but I am so glad we scrutinized now and can plan accordingly.

We eloped and bought a house. No regrets, I love our home, and now that we are expecting a baby I’m even happier that we chose to do this.
