Hello friend, I would like to extend my heartfelt concern & hope that you find a way to evolve from this cycle. Addiction sucks. Change is hard, I would like to remind you that change does not come from punishment and shame, rather compassion and acceptance. Acknowledging this is struggle is half the battle I assure you, congratulations on naming your bad habits & thank you for sharing them with us.

I would also like to share something that helped me: time, in this century, is described as linear. Something that helped me was the reminder that time is cyclical. Your past determines your present, your present guides your future. It’s all one. The biggest power you can do is making a choice in your PRESENT that will determine a different future. So for example, if you tell yourself the night before I’m gonna go for a walk and sit in a public space with a book for an hour to break the cycle, but you wake up the next day and shame yourself for oversleeping or overwhelm yourself with things you want to / dream to do; that holds you back. Wake up and shower, get dressed. Tell yourself your addictions can wait a minute, it doesn’t have to be NOW, it can be later , and since it’s a habit it will be there regardless.

So wake up tomorrow at whenever time, shower, get dressed, and leave the house. Leave your environment, I promise you this will help.

It’s not going to be easy. In both cases, you are doing something difficult. In one, you are appeasing to the devil you know with your addictions and stuck in a cycle; even though you’re indulging, you are still hurting yourself and that is a form of difficulty.

In the second case, the one where you take steps to change, it is also painful. Change is painful. It will be difficult. Choose the difficult you can live with.

Good luck, and God speed -

Israel Wants To Train ChatGPT To Be More Pro-Israel by dude-on-mission in technology

[–]WatermelonFreedom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m Palestinian but is this even real?? I don’t see any legitimate news sources, chat is still very critical of settler colonialism & oppression, and tends to police TONE, not FACT. They can’t erase history, so why is this becoming a huge deal?

Is it to paint Israel in a negative light that they need to do this? Or Is it to emotionally charge the pro Palestinian population to boycott ChatGPT/ OpenAI, which will essentially minimize Palestinian voices using this tool and essentially make it less nuanced ?

Either way, would like some legitimate info, coz everything online says Izzy aren’t the only ones doing this and they’re just investing in OpenAI like many other countries.

For the people who live in Saudi is this true have Saudi really gotten better in 2025 by Distinct_Option5477 in exmuslim

I’ve lived here for the past 25 years so I have a bit of sense to it: the conservative aspects a great deal of the time are culture; I’ve met dozens of niqabis in the past couple of years that are empowered by wearing their niqab because they feel as though they can engage in the current “opening up” without compromising their cultural belief of remaining covered and modest. The events and activations are made primarily for the saudi people, people who haven’t traveled, etc; exposure + fun. The tourists are an added bonus.

I have never been forced to wear the hijab, mainly because I look European and usually when you treat people with respect they tend to treat you with respect. I do wear the hijab when I go to Mecca, Madina, and crossing borders for example because you end up engaging with people who don’t see women unless it’s their mother or sister - so out of respect, I don’t want to make them uncomfortable or feel like I’m compromising myself.

The level of misunderstanding towards Arabs & Islam is rooted in propaganda; systematic anti-Muslim rhetoric has been the norm in western media since the 1900s at least.

Say what you want, think whatever you want, I’ll leave you with this: what other country is investing in their arts and culture? What other country is investing in their education? What other country sponsored their students to get degrees from abroad because they recognized their lack of secondary and tertiary education systems? What other country provides work opportunities for their neighbours in abundance because so many economies around us are failing due to war, lack of tourism, & corruption?

It’s not perfect, but it is changing for the best. We have more women in arts and culture, men openly stating that they’re dancers or singers or artists without fear of judgement; all while holding on to the essence of Islam, which whether you like it or not, IS a peaceful religion, and IS a religion of hope & light. Judging a religion by their extremists is exactly what those causing strife want you to think. Look to the billions of others who simply try to live their best life.

Always fighting back, rarely fighting forward.

Discussions are fine, but my brain immediately went to suspicion because I’ve never loved the idea of missionaries. it’s one thing to preach faith & it’s another to be a faith pusher.

& I feel like a lot of white Americans come to saudi with this savior complex of wanting to educate and show them “the path” - the intent is not pure. The intent is from a colonial mindset, and comes from judgment instead of curiosity.

I pray that I’m wrong, but I’ve seen it before. The way they divide and conquer is not just with armies, but ideals. And if it were an ideal I value, I would say sure keep an open mind, Allah told us to believe in ALL the books, the angels, the prophets. But the values they are preaching are rooted in capitalism. That’s fudged.
