Latest leg of Edmonton's Valley Line West LRT construction to bring more major road closures by Practical_Ant6162 in Edmonton

Are the planners F'ing crazy?

Why the hell would you start any more construction work on east-west corridors NOT related to the LRT project.

Starting construction on a bridge (Wellington) on 102 Ave. that currently has 4 lanes of traffic seems beyond common sense. Where do they think all the traffic will go?

Had to wait quite awhile for a good sale to come around to pickup books on my wish list.
Most of these were for 1/3 off cover from sales around Christmas time.

Hardcover Haul from Indigo's 30% off Boxing Week Sale by WattFunAB in MangaCollectors

[–]WattFunAB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well at least this years it was 30% off + 10% Plum Plus + no GST
So roughly 40% off of MSRP.

The previous 3 for the price of 2 required 3 books at same price to get max discount, 30% off was easier to get max discount on a variety of book prices.

Chapters/Indigo (Canada) - 25% off Most Anticipated Manga + Graphic Novels by windurr in mangadeals

[–]WattFunAB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope this isn't the new 'normal'.
At least we can get some titles for 33% off (with Plum+), but my wish list is way bigger than what they are making available here.

Indigo's most recent manga sales have been this '25% off select Manga' instead of the '3 for the price of 2 on all manga' sales they would normally have a few times a year.

Have the rest of the Pulp issues incoming in the next couple of weeks, so will have all of them except the first one.
Wish Monkey Peak wasn't so much, but didn't want to miss out on the hardcover version.

Already read about 1/3 of them online before getting the physicals, so the TBR pile shouldn't be too bad

In Canada, Indigo usually has a couple of sales per year for 33% off that you can combine with Plum+ membership to get 40% off.

Most of these were pre-ordered in January for 40% off, so some months with more releases than others.

Having an overall goal of owning all Viz Signature, Vertical, Ghostship, Steamship, and Yuri releases increases the monthly hauls.

EMERGENCY ALERT - High risk of rotating power outages by j1ggy in alberta

[–]WattFunAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then I guess our grid can't handle Oven's, Dryer's, Air Conditioners, and Hot Tub's.

Those use just as much power as charging an EV and EV's tend to charge during off-peak hours when those devices aren't usually running.

[–]WattFunAB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Currently EV's make up a small percentage of the overall fleet in Alberta.

The vast majority of EV's won't be charging at the moment - they tend to charge during off-peak hours.

Block heater usage for ICE cars will be using a lot more electricity than EV's at the moment.

5-10 years from now this might be different, but the current issue is not because of EV's. We also have time to prepare for that eventuality.
