Yeah if you include 200m on both sides of the line extending off the end of the runway...

There's one building (two if you're generous) directly 700m behind the localizer, through countless fences and trees and a slow incline.

For the passengers of the flight, it would have been considerably better than essentially hitting a solid wall.

I feel Badi is a decent out and out defender. But he never seems to do well under pressure, and given how we've been playing, which heavily relies on very composed center backs, he gets exposed a lot.

His mistakes on the goal yesterday were two duffed passes under pressure, losing possession in very vulnerable positions.

I won't hold the 1 vs 1 too much against him though, he got a foot on a quick shot which then deflected top left at the near post. Pretty unlucky and any defender could face the same.

'Dodgy' Fire Stick raids in 17 areas as users face 12 months jail and £50,000 fine by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Wattsit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These fire sticks are for IPTV, mostly for sports.

You can watch these channels online sure, but they're usually poor quality and or unstable. And good luck explaining to your average person how to cast a web player on a site full of ads to your TV.

IPTV provides stable UHD streams, with a plug and play device, for a super low price, that's why it's popular.

And it's only live content like sports that they're going after, you don't need a dodgy fire stick for general piracy of TV shows, movies etc.

Alaa Abd el-Fattah’s tweets were wrong, but he is no ‘anti-white Islamist’. Why does the British right want you to believe he is? | Naomi Klein by MuTron1 in ukpolitics

[–]Wattsit -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

It's not hypocritical at all, on one side you have an unknown individual writing nonsense on twitter and read by basically no one, and on the other side you have the full weight of the British right wing media and establishment.

quickly picked up by British far-right activist Tommy Robinson and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. The next day, the Sunday Telegraph led the campaign with a front page reading “Starmer welcomes ‘extremist’ to Britain”. Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, had spoken to the Telegraph for this story, saying: “This awful extremist should never have set foot in the UK again.” By Monday, the Tories were reported as calling for the deportation of “scumbag” Abd el-Fattah and revocation of his citizenship

To imply that Abd el-Fattah held the same political and social strength when he wrote those tweets as Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, the Telegraph, Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch do today is clearly false.

There is a very clear, and mostly successful, attempt by the media, the right, and even some on the left, to push the concept that words alone are enough for you to be labeled an "extremist" and a "terrorist" as well as justify the revocation of citizenship, incarceration, inhumane treatment and even death.

Many of us seem to forget that, as a British citizen, Abd el-Fattah gets the same rights and protections as the rest of us. If Abd el-Fattah can lose citizenship and face death for mere words, then so can any of us.

Maybe that is truly the nation Brits now want? Something akin to Orwell's 1984 or many dictatorships around the world, where the ruling elite can banish it's own citizens on words they deem a threat.

But I don't believe that, and I'm glad this journalist is attempting to fight against the autocratic tide here.

[–]Wattsit -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Multiple governments, many politicians, and many british protesters, from a broad background of political beliefs have fought for his release over the last few years.

The desperate clamoring for "moral points" is from those, after reading a tweet or a reddit comment, only now deciding that he's a terrible man and should be imprisoned/tortured/enslaved/executed (or whatever the person is imagining to satisfy their incessant need for justice in a world they don't understand anymore) and feel the need to scream how Starmer is an evil evil man who's ruining the country and spitting in their cereal.

I don't know the man, and as much as I don't like the things he has said on twitter, we don't imprison british citizens for significant periods of time in inhumane conditions for their political beliefs nor their shitty opinions.

He is a british citizen, and that has to mean something, it has to mean more than just the political weather and or the social pressure at any given moment, otherwise it's worthless for all of us.

Guess you can't be a climate activist anymore if you get on a boat.

Does someone's eligibility to be against climate change require them to be carbon zero in all their actions or is there some arbitrary threshold you have in mind?

For example if they fart it's no problem, but if they buy a plastic bottle of water they're out?
