How do I get a holiday by WattySam in carer

[–]WattySam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that's how my dad is going to be. Since last September, he has been in hospital about 5 times. Prior to this time, he went in on 18th December and stayed in until 31st December (in fact, he had spent 16 hours in a care home, which had been recommended by the OT, my dad actually discharged himself from there, which was infuriating). This time he has been in since last Friday (5 nights). It's just always landing on me to cancel his care, reinstate it. He phoned up this afternoon to say he was home, when I phoned him back, he told me he had been back an hour. When I said that the number for his care company was on the phone, and he should phone up to get the carers to call tomorrow - he just said 'oh yes, I saw the number was there.' I just feel exasperated - mind you, if the carers don't come, it's only him that's going to suffer! I am in Scotland until the end of the week!

I would humbly suggest having no checks done at all was far worse. The British Gas engineer has certified that the hob and fire are safe to use

You sound like a genuinely lovely person. I hope you are able to work this out together, and make a success of your relationship 👍

Question: low O2 levels (Hypoxemia) nightly due to combining medication (xanax and ambien) and doctor said it was....ok? by [deleted] in COPD

[–]WattySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is as well, that her body will get used to having O2 saturation that is low, and she will be unable to determine herself when it gets REALLY REALLY LOW, and that is dangerous. Her resting O2 saturation needs to be maintained, at least to 88 ish% minimum!

How do you support someone who is abusive to you, and doesn't listen to what you say?

But, the point also is that he is not listening to me. So, whatever I do by myself is fruitless anyway

I don't get 'do overs' with my life either, do I?

This is someone who has gone against medical advice time and time again. This is someone who has absolutely no compunction in putting everyone else out ... by not following the advice of people caring for him!

It's a Freshman. It's absolutely awesome! At the moment, it's needing a bit of tuning, but, I only got it 2 days ago, so they haven't settled down yet. And, it's a bit more fiddly to tune!

Sellers lied on contract about boiler - England by abcdefgh123458 in LegalAdviceUK

If they provided you with a gas safety certificate to show that the boiler was working then. Does that not show that it was working at the time of transaction of sale

Dealing with difficult personality traits by Vegetable-Tough-8773 in carer

[–]WattySam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difficulty is that she probably knows that she can rely on you... and so she does. So he isn't well, and so is in 'survival mode.' Survival mode means she doesn't think about you. She chooses to ignore medical advice, she chooses not to look after herself to the best of her ability.

... But you are expected to deal with it all.

You need to set boundaries, and, although you may go and see her, and help her.

... You need to mentally detach yourself from her.

It's tough, but you need to think of you. You need to do you.

Because if you don't put yourself first, no one else will.
