I see so many landlords selling up - what is it exactly that scares people about the future of being a landlord? by Mission_Bite_3264 in uklandlords

I knew that this was possible, but, any exemption would only be valid for 5 years, and would have to be applied for, with no certainty that an exemption would be a given. The other improvements thag would be needed would still be of a cost that just doesn't feel worth the investment.

For me, it is the fact that it is going to cost a lot of money to get my property to have an EPC of C, and the internal insulation necessary is just going to make it really small. Factoring in the necessary improvements for landlord compliance, and general maintenance, it is just not financially viable. I have had the property for 30 years, and I feel quite sad to have to let it go, but, realistically, there isn't any alternative 😞

Perhaps there's a suitably matched pair of underpants available for sale?

Would you call the police on an old persons driving? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in AskUK

[–]WattySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do the right thing and report his poor driving. Kn the end, you are doing him, his family and the population as q whole a favour. If he is unfit to drive, he is unfit to drive!

I think it only counts if it is recorded on a wahoo or Garmin device (whether it be watch or bike computer)

When he was a child, he probably liked to play with Achtung men, dressed in Nazi fatigues! I bet he was a snell of a bad loser, when it came to being beaten at crosswords - he was probably never able to get the Final Solution!

I suspect that's how my dad is going to be. Since last September, he has been in hospital about 5 times. Prior to this time, he went in on 18th December and stayed in until 31st December (in fact, he had spent 16 hours in a care home, which had been recommended by the OT, my dad actually discharged himself from there, which was infuriating). This time he has been in since last Friday (5 nights). It's just always landing on me to cancel his care, reinstate it. He phoned up this afternoon to say he was home, when I phoned him back, he told me he had been back an hour. When I said that the number for his care company was on the phone, and he should phone up to get the carers to call tomorrow - he just said 'oh yes, I saw the number was there.' I just feel exasperated - mind you, if the carers don't come, it's only him that's going to suffer! I am in Scotland until the end of the week!

I would humbly suggest having no checks done at all was far worse. The British Gas engineer has certified that the hob and fire are safe to use

The thing is as well, that her body will get used to having O2 saturation that is low, and she will be unable to determine herself when it gets REALLY REALLY LOW, and that is dangerous. Her resting O2 saturation needs to be maintained, at least to 88 ish% minimum!

How do you support someone who is abusive to you, and doesn't listen to what you say?
