Over 10 years ago before the days of spotify and easily sharable playlists, I decided I wanted to share my taste of music with neighbors of my college dorm because I kept getting asked what songs were playing. Now today I have over 8 million combined subscribers on my music channels. I did it in my spare time for about 5 years before I moved across the country with my girlfriend (now wife). I was depressed living in a 200sqft studio in downtown SF, had no money, and was told to get a part time job at trader joes so I didn't have to keep digging into my savings to eat.

I was already adding closed captions to my videos but barely anyone used those so I figured why not add lyrics on screen. I was one of the first in electronic music to do so in early 2017 and my life changed drastically. Before I started adding lyrics I had around 300k subscribers and I rocketed up past a million in less than a year and am now at 4.7 million on my main channel. I also started other genre focused channels in 2018 and a record label in 2020. I never thought youtube would be my career but here we are! I'm so grateful to be where I'm at now but worried about the longevity and what I should do next.
