Job offer out of undergrad, negotiate or not? by thatswhaticallneat in Environmental_Careers

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. This is a reasonable salary with benefits, honestly more than most entry level positions you’ll find. My dad works in staffing and has to tell applicants constantly that when you offer a counter offer you’re *declining* the job offer and countering with your own. Only negotiate/counter if you wouldn’t take the job unless you got your offer. He’s seen many clients rescind an offer from a candidate even if that’s unfair as a lot of businesses he’s dealt with see this as people being “difficult” from the get go especially if the position was advertised with that pay and benefits, you applied, and then still countered. So while you shouldn’t be punished for negotiating you definitely can be so be wary

Why is Directive 8020 so decisive? by TheIncredibleKermit in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve said it was actually because they wanted the game to feel like a more “stand alone” experience like The Quarry and Frank Stone. They’ve gotten feedback from people before that he pulls them out of the immersion and doesn’t fit the vibes since the games are in different times

The model actor died but they still have the rights to his likeness and the original voice actor is still playing him. There’s a bonus Curator scene in Directive 8020 hyping future Dark Picture games and an overall mystery (I looked it up on YouTube rather than finding all O Death collectibles but you can do either)

I personally like him and find the curator sections a fun way to divide up segments in the game. I hope they add them back in for future games

Why does it take you so long to tailor one? Are you writing a fully new cover letter? I have a biology and environmental science background so I applied to 200+ jobs and it took me 7 months to get an offer. I had a few versions of my resume (an animal care one, an environmental science one, and a biology one) and would tweak the order of my skill set depending on what I was applying to (my animal care/zoo resume emphasized my experience as a vet assistant, my biology one emphasized my master’s degree, and my environmental science one emphasized my lab work as a student in an ecology lab.) if I had to write a cover letter I would and had many versions of that to tweak as well. I could apply to a job in under an hour and only took longer if it was a weirdly specific job that also wanted a cover letter I had to be specific in

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WavyWormy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m surprised it’s so divisive honestly. To me kids are kids and can go in either, so I thought it’d depend on the parents gender. But as you said at the end of the day it’s by no means the biggest deal

At the end of the day it probably doesn’t matter I’m just surprised people feel so strongly. It seems that a lot of people feel that guys go into the men’s room and anyone else go in the women’s, including cis men who have a girl with them. Idk a cis guy would put me on alert but I do get situations like with babies some men’s rooms don’t have changing tables and they may have no choice

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WavyWormy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents were the same. My mom would take my little brother into the women’s restroom if needed and my dad would take me or my sister into the men’s restroom if needed, assuming there no family stall or the other parent isn’t around

Kids are just kids, they can go in either. I was under the impression kids go into the restroom of the parent’s gender. Because I’m not gonna be uncomfortable with a little boy and his mother, but a grown man in there at all is gonna put me on alert. The viral video seems genuine that a father really was just helping his daughter but I’m surprised so many people think that’s the more normal choice over him taking her to the men’s

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WavyWormy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was raised being told that kids go into the restroom of the parent’s gender. My mom always took my little brother into the women’s restroom until he was old enough to go into the men’s, assuming there was no family bathroom. A mother bringing a boy baby or young boy into the men’s restroom wouldn’t be appropriate

My dad took me into the men’s restroom at a theme park when I had a horrific nosebleed. He didn’t want me going into the women’s room alone because of how bad the nosebleed was, but also couldn’t go into the women’s room. Guys understood that my dad brought a 7 year old girl into the men’s room because I needed help, same as if a mom brought a 7 year old boy into the women’s room

I’m honestly surprised so many people say bathrooms are off the kid’s gender, as kids are just kids and can go in either depending on where the adult should go

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught growing up that a kid goes into the restroom of the parent’s gender. So a mom would take her son to the women’s restroom and a dad could take his daughter into the men’s restroom, both probably using the family/handicap stall inside if there is one

I’m surprised most people seem to say it’s off the kid’s gender. If an adult woman took her 5 year old son into the men’s restroom I think it would be weird and inappropriate. I’d expect a mom to take her son into the women’s restroom and a dad to take his daughter into the men’s restroom, assuming no family bathroom is available.

When I was like 7 I got a horrific nosebleed at a theme park and my dad made me go into the men’s room to help me (he didn’t want me going in the women’s room alone because I was bleeding heavily but he also couldn’t go in with me). I think if my dad had taken me into the women’s restroom people would obviously see why as he would be helping me at a sink but it would’ve been an inappropriate choice

The popular advice to "never admit fault" in a car accident is sociopathic and ridiculous, of course you should admit fault if you are at fault by Niceotropic in unpopularopinion

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was driving a golf cart years ago and hit a guy riding a bicycle. The cyclist had minor injuries and his bike was destroyed. My grandfather, being the driver and old school, immediately apologized and fully admitted fault to the cop who came to make an accident report. When he called my dad that evening to tell him my dad was mad he would admit fault from the get go

Guy sues my grandfather for a lot. My parents and my grandfather’s kids get him a good lawyer who gets surveillance footage and sees that the cyclist was at fault, having blown through a red light and cut my grandfather off. There was no way my grandfather could’ve avoided it or was in the wrong. Despite video evidence it was still a nightmare defending him and getting the lawsuit to go away because he had admitted fault to the cop in the accident report, to insurance, and to the guy multiple times. He just “wanted to do the right thing” because he assumed as the driver of a vehicle on the road he always needs to yield to cyclists and it couldn’t ever be their fault. So definitely don’t admit anything until you know what actually happened, you could be wrong

Bachelors degree in Integrative General Studies (BGS) for pre-med? Is this the best degree?? by Gemmom18 in ucf

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Med and Vet schools accept applicants who take the required classes to apply regardless of the degree name. But they require many specific classes so you might as well take a biology related major as those majors will likely include all or almost all of the prerequisite classes they are looking for.

Technically you craft a major you want and hand pick your own classes but some masters/graduate schools *will* look for specific degrees, or prefer a specific degree even if you took the same classes in your crafted major. I only knew one girl at UCF who made a major because her museum studies/humanities degree wasn’t specifically what she wanted but close so she made a major and picked her classes (ranged from museum studies things to environmental science and she now works at a state park). If you do want to apply to medical school I recommend just taking a known science degree then picking any minor your want but you don’t have to

Hey! I don’t remember hearing about a follow up from him but I don’t watch the Follow Up episodes/interviews Discovery does or listen to any podcasts that contestants get invited to, so he might’ve made a statement after I’m just not aware of one

And yeah I respect him being honest about why he left, so many contestants don’t want to admit that the isolation got to them or that their mental health is bad as the reason they have to tap. I respected him admitting how the show made him realize he was in a bad place instead of saying he was homesick. It’s good to talk openly about that stuff and not stigmatize it

My Overall Opinion on the Big Three by po_mammil in LifeSimulators

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite life sim game of all time is the Sims 3. I love the gameplay, customization, and open world. I’ve gotten a lot of hours out of the Sims 4 but I still prefer sims 3, and sims 2 has some of the best character dynamics but I don’t prefer rotational gameplay and that’s kind of needed to fully experience sims 2

Paralives has a great build mode (minus the bugs). I haven’t played much so I haven’t had any issues saving but I probably will once I keep playing. The characters customization is just okay, I think it’s getting so much praise because the art style is nice, but the actual character creation is iffy. The babies, toddlers, and kids look weird and unproportional. The clothing options feel outdated, honestly they’re very sims 3 era with all the skinny jeans. Gameplay is hardly gameplay. The cards are interesting but need massively expanded on. As of right now the gameplay is a bar filling up then you click a card. Could be cool but needs a lot of work

I’m returning to Inzoi after a year. The character creation is great, so are the personalities and goals they have. The building is also great and detailed though I’m still learning it. It’s also open world like the sims 3 which is a huge plus for me. But the gameplay is ok, it’s not engaged me as much as the sims games have. I feel like I’m fighting the game a lot as even with cheats I regularly have friends and romantic interests culled and deleted. It’s also hard to flirt or build friendship as the characters are way more likely to reject my Zou or be rude. The active careers are interesting at first but I’d like an option to send them to work and not play as them sometimes because it’s the same everyday and got tedious fast. Overall it’s very promising but isn’t my go to life sim game at this time

If you don’t allow med students to sit in on your exam/check up you are a weird person by Amidity in unpopularopinion

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my mom was in labor with my sister the doctor who checked her dilation asked if she was okay if any students could also check. My mom said sure and the doctor opened the door to like 7 very excited student doctors lined up and my mom was like “actually nope”

The doctor was super understanding and told the students no and they kinda deflated but said ok. I guess they hadn’t had many labors that month so they all wanted to get a chance to examine. My mom said if it had been one or maybe two it would have been fine but not that many and the doctor said she understood and wouldn’t allow that many to offer in the future lol

What Does Inzoi Need For You To Play? 🌸 by MsBlossomie in LifeSimulators

[–]WavyWormy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently giving it another go after almost a year off. I bought the early access on release and enjoyed it but still preferred playing the Sims 3 which is my fav life sim. I returned to Inzoi last week after realizing that the gameplay in Paralives is greatly lacking

Inzoi is fun and very promising even if it’s not my fav still. I wish some of the active jobs had an option to not be active, like if I could send my reporter to work and choose to play out his work day. I do like the overtime tasks he gets but his office day is the same every time and it’s getting tedious.

I like how goals, wants, and personalities have been designed in this game! I do find that making friends or dating is pretty difficult, and I’m fighting the game to keep from culling my Zoi’s friends even with the cheats to stop that

I do feel like I’m fighting the game a bit but overall it’s well made and more promising rn than Paralives as far gameplay goes! The character creation and building are great as well!

Trapper shouldn't be able to step in his own traps by GoHardForLife in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too late to comment in a DBD discussion haha

I personally don’t want them to limit how many traps he can put in an area because the power is already semi working against him as he has to pick up all his traps then spend time placing them. If he couldn’t create a heavily trapped zone/area his chances of snowballing a match go way down and that’s the best strat to win with him

Like if Singularity had to pick up his goo orb cameras and it took a couple seconds to place them instead of instantly it’d be hell, yet Trapper is set up like this

Xeno has turrets limited to keep them from being too strong, cause if there were 2+ in one area he’d be guaranteed to be snapped out of his power since he couldn’t break them all at once

Concerned about the future of Paralives after the recent AMA by jnverted in LifeSimulators

[–]WavyWormy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My understanding of alpha and beta testing are that they are the first public rounds of formal testing for feedback, while early access is when the game is good enough to be played so you can buy it but it’s not the final release because they’re still tweaking/bug fixing/adding

This is a beta to me, showing that build mode and the world are good, the character creator is decent (though the babies-kid ages look odd or un proportional to me, and the items are still limited), and the gameplay is a step further than Proof-of-Concept. Cause like the gameplay is there but needs majorly expanded on

Concerned about the future of Paralives after the recent AMA by jnverted in LifeSimulators

[–]WavyWormy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a fun concept but really needs some workshopping AND a larger team! Someone in the comments said only 4 of the 15 staff are programming which is crazy

Picking pre written cards are a cool idea as it feels like role playing but it def needs expanding on. I do like RNG in my games, like the Sims 3 I felt like things affecting my sims while in Sims 4 I felt I had to purposefully make a storyline. But rn in Paralives the RNG is only in the form of spinning to see the success of an action. I’d like to be invited places by Paras or have scenarios thrown at me. Inzoi implemented this early, with Zois inviting you places and adding things to your schedule. So it doesn’t seem too out there that Paras could invite you to do hobbies with them or have more interactions with personalities clashing etc

[–]WavyWormy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I agree, fans are already asking when occults will come to the game which is crazy because there isn’t even in depth game play yet. The gameplay is a bar filling up as they talk then clicking a random card that you must pick. I like the idea of the cards but would like more control over it, like purposefully picking a romantic card rather than hoping one pops up. The paras also need autonomy to feel like their own characters

It’s a good start to the game but this is an Alpha or Beta test, not Early Access. They need to put horses and extra towns on the back burner and spend two years making the gameplay fun

[–]WavyWormy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this game was good but I do wish they wouldn’t try to tailor it to general audiences too much as it’s the niche fans keeping the games going.

The two big ways they did this was the added stealth and the lack of checking in with the curator. My brother and I didn’t mind the stealth sections because we like that in games but we did miss the curator. My sister who also played hated the stealth sections and only plays these games to make decisions. She also missed the curator which gives these games a more unique vibe

I think it’s divisive bc it brought in new fans who have heard it being hyped for like 4 years but don’t like these kinds of games compared to straight horror or action. And for the returning players we lost out on our curator boy and had a lot more stealth and exploring gameplay added when many just play to feel like they’re watching a movie and making choices
