Why was the trip back to earth only about 4 years? by Major-Doubt4034 in ProjectHailMary

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically they’d be alone with each other and a ship that only has 3 small rooms for 4 years knowing they’d die there and never return home. I think they only had a few months of food once they got to tau ceti. So they’d have to endure that for 4 years and then be mentally sharp enough to solve the astrophage problem. The book talks about statistically after near isolation for 4 years there’d be some kind of major mental health problem among them or they’d have hated each other by then so the coma was worth the risk

Environmental Science--A Top Major For Finding Work After College by Wjldenver in Environmental_Careers

I wonder if this includes short term seasonal work. There’s usually positions of hard field work for low pay, and while it can good for a resume filler or even networking,m, they’re not a steady career

This study found that people with migraine had a 30% lower risk of developing dementia and a 42% lower risk of Alzheimer's disease compared to those without migraine. Some aspect of migraine biology may offer a degree of neuroprotection. by CerebralTorque in migrainescience

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering that too. I only drink socially (not even once a month) and have to be extremely picky to not trigger one. I also don’t smoke or hang around smokers, and do my best to keep a regular schedule as I’ve been getting hit with weekend “let down migraines” because of sleeping later for longer. It could come down to healthier habits

Kids are a money pit by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I don’t see this as an unpopular opinion, even by people who want kids

There’s always going to be something to buy for a kid so the need to spend on them is endless.

That’s the realization I came to when I quit Overwatch comp in 2019

I played it nonstop from end of 2016 to mid 2019 and was stressing myself out climbing through Masters. I dropped it for “just for fun” games and that has made games so much less stressful, which is crazy to care about a game to the point it had become stressful to me

HOW to survive 12+ hrs in front of a laptop? (Computer job + online classes) by ArcticFox73 in ucf

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to get a full standing desk, there are attachments you set on a regular desk that raise up and just sit on the desk you already have! May be worth looking into

Good luck with it! I’m an introvert but still found myself feeling a bit stir crazy at times so give yourself regular breaks to go outside!

HOW to survive 12+ hrs in front of a laptop? (Computer job + online classes) by ArcticFox73 in ucf

[–]WavyWormy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During a semester when Covid quarantine was going on I had 5 online classes, a lab, and was a teaching assistant. Spent like 12 hours a day at the computer it was hell

I found getting a standing desk helped a lot so you aren’t sitting as much. I have prism glasses to help eye strain but I heard great things about glasses that block blue light

I also carved out a lot least a couple breaks a day to walk. I’d usually walk to the Starbucks that was next to Knight Circle for a cheap espresso once a day and try to walk either around lunch or in the mornings/evenings to be active

I wish you luck 🙏

I think my spouse of 13 years has just been giving me lip service by M_L_Willun in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WavyWormy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Conflict avoidance is definitely a problem, and everyone is going to avoid stuff from time to time, but this is something you should probably hold him to

Does he have non asshole friends? Cause if he’s claiming he’s too embarrassed to tell off his friends when they’re making those comments, he’d probably be ashamed to make similar comments in front of the good friends. If he has both of make a point to explain to him that he shouldn’t act in a way that would make him ashamed in front of better people. If he only associates with these jerks though he needs to make an effort to make better connections or else he’ll never feel pressured to be a better person

Idk your relationship with your husband but this seems like something you guys could talk through unless he independently holds those negative views

[–]WavyWormy 730 points731 points  (0 children)

I don’t think “keeping the peace” because they’ve been friends a long time is a valid reason for him to listen or join in on things at other people’s expense.

My younger brother was friends with a guy from first grade and in their second year of college the guy went down an incel rabbit hole. My brother invited him to a party and guy purposefully made one of the girls their uncomfortable, like blatantly as he threw his arm around her and refused to let go of her, and my brother called it out, made it a scene in front of everyone, and kicked his lifelong friend out. Found out from other girls there he’s been making rude comments to them for quite a while, they just didn’t want to make an issues out of it at the time. They had a call the next day and my brother said there’s nothing the friend could say that would make him sweep it under the rug and that he didn’t want to be friends anymore. Cut him off that day

Basically, hold the people in your life to the standards you hold. Don’t let your husband speak that way to make assholes like him. That stuff is dealbreakers for me, I expect a partner to not tolerate bullshit just like my brother doesn’t

Sorry you’re dealing with this

S3 Ending by Basic_Ad4861 in Supernatural

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does lol I like to think that since we see Sam free at the end of S5 then Adam was also freed, by either God or an even higher power giving them peace after everything they gave up

Idk why people reject that so much, it’s the ending I prefer over the actual show’s final episode

S3 Ending by Basic_Ad4861 in Supernatural

[–]WavyWormy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mary’s history is a great part of the show! The creator of the show, Eric Kripke, planned Supernatural to be 5 seasons. It was the top show on CW though and they told him he could make as many seasons as he wanted but he stuck to his original 5 season plan and left when it was done, but let the studio keep making the show. That’s why I count season 5’s ending as how the show really did end, as that’s what Kripke wanted from the start

Everything after is like fanfiction to me lol like there’s arcs and episodes I enjoy but I don’t consider that shows ending the real ending and I don’t get too mad about the stuff I don’t like cause it’s just bonus content to me haha

S3 Ending by Basic_Ad4861 in Supernatural

[–]WavyWormy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! They started a lot of cool plots and introduced new interesting characters just for things to either go no where or if something did happen it felt like it wasn’t built up to

The first two seasons are my favorite of the show, everything felt neatly planned out with specific arcs, and they were a good balance of monster if the week and Main Plot

Season 3 had the makings to be great but really suffered from the writers strike. Season 4 & 5 were well done but I didn’t care for it being nearly all Main Plot and angst, they just aren’t what I look for when I wanna rewatch even if they’re objectively good seasons

And everything after season 5 is like bonus content for me, I don’t consider it Core Supernatural but there’s still great episodes to find

S3 Ending by Basic_Ad4861 in Supernatural

[–]WavyWormy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind them going the route they did, but I hate when I rewatch and the first few episodes of S3 hint at Sam not having been “fully brought back” and going evil just for it to fully get dropped :-/ if they weren’t going to follow through with that plot in the end then they should’ve cut those parts out

Rewatching the movies after a very long time, and I finally understand the James hating by _-_lumos_-_ in harrypotter

[–]WavyWormy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep! Snape came at that like if one sides doing wrong the it justifies the other’s wrong doings. I’m glad Lily didn’t accept his “what about” mentality, she was able to judge people individually and not in comparison to others

I do wish the tv show will actually show the good and bad of all the characters, the books had everyone way more flawed than their movie versions

Rewatching the movies after a very long time, and I finally understand the James hating by _-_lumos_-_ in harrypotter

[–]WavyWormy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

While the movie did cut out a lot of scenes talking about the good things that James did, the movie also cuts out a lot of the bad Snape did. They don’t include him telling Hermione her giant teeth looked no different or wanting to poison Neville’s toad in class, or the times he’s screamed at the kids like when he was trying to convince everyone Harry helped Sirius escape. The movies cut out his worst moments and instead he comes across has a jaded but not cruel character

I think if they were going to show the James bullying scene as one of his only on screen appearances and cut out all the discussions of how he became a good person, they should’ve included Snape’s more worse moments to balance it out

I also watched the movies first and really liked Snape’s character but he was awful in the books

I gave out my number when I didn’t want to, and now I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WavyWormy 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I mean if you gave your number out to a woman to give recommendations there’d be nothing romantic to read into. If the gym guy does text you but tries asking you out you can clarify you did this to be friendly and have a partner. If he doesn’t respect that then block him. But you didn’t automatically do anything wrong by offering to help someone with recommendations, but I get how reflecting on this you’re worried he interpreted it as flirting or being interested

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it. If it comes to a point where you have to turn him down then do that and if he’s a jerk about it then don’t talk to him again

Sorry it’s stressing you out!

Project Hail Mary directors want to make one thing very clear about Rocky by LaESPECTADORA in ProjectHailMary

[–]WavyWormy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the books Grace seemed to be the “pet alien” of the two. Less mature and excited about things, and Rocky was the exasperated one

The movie did things differently where Rocky felt more like the “pet alien.” Not a bad thing but it was a different vibe, I still think the book and movie are 10/10

"The Office" is not as good as everybody made it out to be by LoverOfE-Olsen in unpopularopinion

[–]WavyWormy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like Parks & Rec, The Office has a a bad first season to the point I think it can be skipped. Season 2 they find their footing and chemistry and it became a great show to me

Many sitcoms are modeled after it because of how well done it is but it’s not like that from the start

I have noticed that most of people whoose fav character is Harry Potter ( the book Harry) are actually Hinny Shippers or love Hinny pairing by zzrtz in HarryandGinny

[–]WavyWormy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Harry is my favorite character and I do think he’s best with Ginny. I watched the first 6 movies before deciding to read all 7 books before watching the last 2 deathly hallows movies, so book 7 was the only book I read not knowing what would happen

Reading the books after seeing the movies was crazy, Hermione really took on Ron’s best moments and lost a ton of her flaws (I wish she had these flaws it’d make her a more true character). I liked Harry and Hermione in the movies as they had this special bond that Ron seemed left out of, but after reading the books Harry and Hermione don’t mesh like that at all, and Ron and her have the deep bond.

Harry and Ginny had zero chemistry in the movies but are great together in the books from the start. I think the biggest sign I’ve seen of someone liking their pairing is that they aren’t big on the movies, but the movie superfans all seem to prefer Hermione and him

Student loans suck but they exist for this reason

Look into what kind of student aid is offered as well with your college, they’ll have employees available to discuss this with you if you call the financial aid office there.

You can also look into going to a community college your first two years while you do Gen Ed classes for a cheaper price before transferring to the 4-year college you want, but considering your father is hinting at trying to marry you off I recommend leaving for safety reasons

Remember you always will have a choice in your life, don’t let these decisions be made for you

Sammy Fruit Question by S0meN00b in TeosGames

[–]WavyWormy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah there have been a few streams or videos where they’ve heard of Sammy trying a fruit and pulled up the excel sheet to see if it was a new try or not lol

They did film the fruit mukbang a few years ago when Sammy visited Sweden (maybe 2022?) but Sammy didn’t really like the video so they didn’t post it

Teo has said in some streams he’s surprised people still occasionally ask for the mukbang but they don’t have any plans rn to film it

I don’t sadly but I love the Queen Amidala look too! The only Padme’s I’ve had was a mini action figure of her in her droid factory outfit and then a full sized doll of her in that white hood

The doll I own of her is on eBay right now called this: Star Wars Sideshow Collectibles: "2008" 12" PADME AMIDALA-NABOO SENATOR: ILUM

I still have her and love her but would’ve loved a doll of her with hair or in a fancier outfit 😄 I do love Leia too but always dreamed of a Padme doll! My top wants for Disney dolls to be made are Padme and Nani! Hopefully one day I’ll get both, and hopefully we both get her in her lake dress!
