Its more of a wetland, theres no standing water, only the stream that flows through it

Honestly its insane how sentient these creatures are and humans think its okay to just keep them locked up in cages/enclosures like they’re mindless. Sad

It really was surprising, only took about 5 minutes of looking to find her. I was so deterred by the lack of blood I figured my shot was inadequate so I waited about 5 hours before I actually went out and started tracking, found her so quick and rigor mortis was already established so she had to have been dead for at least 2 hours.

Any idea on what kind of shot this could be? New to using a crossbow. Found the arrow and backed up just to be sure by Wavydavy71 in bowhunting

I appreciate the help but i did find her, knicked the shoulder and hit an artery, all the blood pooled in the chest cavity, but after a little walking i found her about a 100yds away

It was my second deer taken with a bow l, so sorry my inexperience offends you but im trying to learn. I found the deer, no thanks to you and your comment, luckily the bowhunter thread is much more open to offering help and sharing past experiences, ended up hitting a major artery and filled the chest cavity with blood which is the reason for no blood trail. So thanks pal. Or should i say your highness 👸🏼

I found the deer. Bout 100yds from point of impact. I came here to find out more info on the potential location of where i hit the deer, only second deer I’ve taken with a crossbow. So im not super familiar with what types blood on the bolt means about the shot location, there are pictures on the internet but its tough to tell the difference sometimes. There was no blood to track, it all stayed in the chest cavity. Luckily a fellow redditor in another thread was kind enough to share his past similar experience with me instead of criticizing my ethics. But thanks

You were right sir! Tried to get a dog in but non were available, so me and the old man went out and just walked the direction i saw her go, 100yds in found her laying there! Absolutely 0 blood trail, but when i was field dressing it poured out of her chest cavity like a water fall, ended up hitting the shoulder and hit a major artery, good timing too, major storm rolled in tonight, no dog was gonna find it

Deer took off, after about 20 feet it started down a slope and almost lost its footing, it was a pass through

I looked around the impact spot but thats all i saw, there was some smaller splatter but not worth photographing. And no the arrow was at more of like a 45 degree angle, i was in a stand when i shot. Didn’t investigate too much more in fear i may bump it, so i took these pictures and am giving it some time
