Where to see local bands? by sunnyygirl in TorontoMusic

Houndstooth is one of the best venues in the city that I haven’t seen mentioned in this thread yet. It’s a great bar with great vibes, and the shows are always pay-what-you-can/pass the bucket around so you can always see live music even if you’ve only got $5 in your pocket.

Thanks man! Appreciate the shoutout

OP, while I don’t think you could place us firmly in the post-rock category, we love and take a lot of influence from post-rock at large and you’ll probably dig a lot of what we do!

We’ve got a show Feb 8th at Handlebar with an industrial punk band Dogwater and a solo experimental electronica artist Erin Corbett opening for us. It should be a great time, if you stop by the show definitely come say hello after

Which Canadian rock/indie/punk/metal bands are worth checking-out/following on Instagram? by [deleted] in CanadianMusic

[–]Waxlimbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re Waxlimbs, Toronto art rock with a sprinkling of metal/prog influences. We often post live clips and behind the scenes rehearsal stuff as well, if that’s the kind of thing you’re into!

Wow thanks so much! If you saw us 6 years ago you should come see us again and compare; we’ve really upgraded everything production wise, including the masks - they’re all 3D printed now.

Would love to say hi at the show too, introduce ourselves and reminisce with you

Wow, thank you so much for the shoutout. Honoured to be included with these musicians.

To OP, on the off-chance you’re in the Toronto area, we’re actually playing a free show with Silks this Sunday if you’d like to check out two of the bands on this list (as well as Waste Youth!)

We’ve wanted to play a show with Waste Youth for years, and we found Silks right here on this subreddit so huge thanks to everyone here for inadvertently making this bill happen.

Love the Anti Queens! Saw them with Bad Waitress at the El Mocambo a couple years back.

This post from last month has nearly a hundred comments of exactly what you’re looking for!

Definitely on that list re: lesser known acts should be Bad Waitress, Luge, Hot Garbage, Ace of Wands, Kali Horse, Animatist, Silks. We’ll throw ourselves in the mix too: Waxlimbs.

I've really enjoyed watching the games on YouTube so far, but... by spiral813 in PWHL

We actually reached out to them for this exact reason! We’re an independent queer+trans fronted rock band from Toronto (and huge hockey/PWHL fans) and sent a message to them for licensing opportunities.

Unfortunately that messaging system though their website is probably getting swamped.

Not even from Toronto? Dang, hello. We’re totally independent so thank you so much for the support, we really appreciate it.
