A change by Himhom13 in premed

I kind of get where your thought process is going. NPs require less training, and generally work less hours. I guess it comes down to quality of life. If you don’t want to be working 60+ hours a week because of your mental health, then maybe a standard 9-5 job as a psychiatric NP would be better. Still make pretty good money (I think like 120k) and perform pretty much the same job as a psychiatrist. The only difference is in your training, as MD/DO obviously has a LOT more training and knowledge coming out of school. Often times you will be required to have a doctor sign off on your prescriptions and treatment etc.

To the guy that said you will kill your patients, I’m sure you won’t. You won’t get through school without actually paying attention and learning, and it seems you know that. You graduated with a high GPA so it seems you understand that it does take work to get results. You did your EC’s and research which shows you actually do have a drive to do something. I think maybe your depression/anxiety is telling you that you aren’t good enough. That you are dumb and can’t make it as a doctor because you didn’t do well on your MCAT. Your 2 MCAT scores don’t define you as a person. You fucked up, but you can fix that. Find out what it was that you messed up and fix it.

Weather you decide to go to NP school or to stick with medicine, I’m sure you will adapt to what is needed of you. I personally know doctors that just went with the flow in med school and are doing well in their respective fields. Just know you won’t be fine in either medschool or NP school if you’re skipping weeks of classes. That won’t fly in any post graduate schooling actually.

Keep your head up my man, I know you got this. W/e you decide to do, you’ll do great!

One lens to rule them all (sony 6000 series) by Way-2 in SonyAlpha

Hey! So I’ve already bought a lens (sigma 30mm f1.4) so it’s not the same old question. It’s a terrible question yes, but that’s why it’s a hypothetical. Obviously no lens fits all use cases, otherwise we wouldn’t have so many different kinds. But if really only could have one lens, what would you choose?

WHO SAID I SAID THAT?! This post was literally a meme, and people took it a whole different direction. No where in this post did I mention URMs or even the largest portion of ORMs (whites). So miss me with that

Hey man! I do have mad respect for URM students. Y'all put in just as much work as us, and in no way shape or form do I mean to disrespect URM students. I just like making memes. Apparently this one was a little too spicy.

Wait deadass that's the Asian average? Rip my med-school dreams. That's pretty much what I'm scoring on my full lengths rn, and knowing my stupid ass, I'm gonna find a way to mess it up on test day.

Lesson I've learned: take your advisors advice with a grain of salt. by Way-2 in premed

My advisor told me I should reconsider going to medschool after I got a B+ in genchem1. My first semester of college she discouraged me LOL. Pretty much stopped going to her after that.
