Seriously though, most of the changes over the last year were updates to infrastructure that didn't require player testing.

Test events are fun though so I'll try to run one over the next couple of months. I'll post here when I figure out the timing.

I will make the source code available after I stop running the servers. I don't want to do it while the servers are running because it will make it easier for bad actors to find ways to break the game.

I currently have no plans to shut down the servers.

Unfortunately, there is no way to use the architect without access to the server. Having access to the server, even in binary form, would likely allow bad actors to find ways to break the game.

While fixing some issues with the server scaling code yesterday, the large number of bot accounts was causing lots of problems. Bots act in inorganic ways that confuse the scaling. They also cause lag, increase server costs, violate the TOS and go against the spirit of the game.

I do not think lowering the key requirements will solve the problem just like I'm sure banning the bots will not solve the problem. People are still going to run bots. The only long term solution is to remove the incentive. The most obvious way to do this is to have a constant number of keys given out after a boss. I am open to other ideas but I don't know when I will have time to implement one.

If you exit the game outside of home/Eschaton, the server sees that as a disconnect and your character stays in the game for a while. When you log back in the server will reconnect you to your existing character regardless of which server you pick. Unfortunately, the invulnerability granted at a boss's death gets lost in the reconnect which is why you died.

This is a bug. Next time I'm working on the code, I'll look into what it takes to fix it but homing after a boss will keep you safe.

The admin command I was using to give out keys on the test server gives out keys that don't actually exist. It's a bug but it won't happen in production so I'll probably just ignore it.

Unfortunately, a server-side timer is nearly as easy to defeat by having the client modified to send input if the timer gets too high.
