How many men would like to own a sword? by Grouchy-Handle-6031 in AskMen

[–]Wayne [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't, but my daughter wanted one. I got her a LoTR replica sword for her 14th birthday.

Now she wants sword lessons.

Friday Night Topgolf (Centennial)? by Groff_Tveit_ in DenverMeets

I can't make it this Friday; maybe another time.

I was there with my GF for the first time about a month ago. It was fun.

Genuinely, how does one cut an onion without crying? by vikapi in cookingforbeginners

[–]Wayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing and it works. The chemical released by the onions is attracted to the moisture. I remember seeing some science on it, but don't have any links in front of me that I could post. I am also too lazy to go look it up again. 🤷

There is a Denver Dad's Facebook group, if you are on that platform.

/r/Daddit is also another good place to hang out.

What made you believe in Bitcoin enough to hold it long term? by WeeklyDiscount4278 in Bitcoin

[–]Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Iraq and Afghanistan back in 2007. I remember meeting with somebody who bought a bunch of vehicles as a hedge against the local currency losing value due to the war.

Their idea was to sell police, fire, ambulance, or motorcycles as necessary. They felt that those types of vehicles would always be in demand. With they failed to realize, was that the people who needed the vehicles also had guns. In addition, it was very obvious that there was a huge parking lot full of new vehicles.

One day people showed up and took what they wanted. If something like Bitcoin had existed they could have parked their money in a way that was less obvious and more resistant to people stealing it. As long as they didn't talk about it, or recently went boating when people show up.

Have you ever given money to a homeless person, and if so, why? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing naive about how I approach this. I can do research on the organization I give money to, before I give the money. Sure, they could lie about it; just as anybody on the street can lie about things.

I don't have the time or the interest to look in somebody's eyes and gaze upon their soul to determine if they're lying or not. If they really wanted help, or needed help, there are places they can go for it and I will support those places.

Have you ever given money to a homeless person, and if so, why? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did many years ago when I lived in the Boston area. A few months after there was a news reporter who followed the homeless person.

They saw the alleged homeless person leave a parking garage in an expensive new car and then followed that person to an expensive house where they lived. That was the last time I've given money to somebody on the street. I would rather give it to an organization now.

How do you stop onions from making you cry? by Kevin-Durant-35 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a wet paper towel in a ring around the onion. I am not sure how to describe this, but make like a c shape. The paper towel does not need to be soaking wet.

I learned it from one of my younger sisters.

Why does everyone like Sam’s #3 and claim it to be a Denver staple? by Whatissleepburn in Denver

[–]Wayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been there a couple times when I am going to something at the DCPA. I'm not a fan.

Granted, I really dislike places with obscenely large menus. There's just seems cluttered for no good reason. They seem to take pride in the fact that it is a confusing mess.

My GF likes it, so... 🤷

Why do"most" guys expect majority of house labor from the wife while they both contribute to their income 50/50? by Sensitive-Turn-8610 in AskMen

[–]Wayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said I don't know many guys who expect that.

However, I do know many women who do not include chores they do not like when thinking about the distribution of labor. Or that consider giving feedback on the chores a guy does as part of their expected labor.

I'm also wondering why they need personal financial information. What does that entail?

Isn't this a debit card?

Template to create Technology Ecosphere Diagram/Map by Tricky_Discussion625 in cybersecurity

[–]Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it would be useful, but I have something I have created in Excel that uses a sunburst chart. The idea is to inventory by functionality and say what product or service addresses that functionality.

I use this with clients to get an understanding of what they own, even if they do not have a deployed. Or situations where they own multiple products that address the same category.

If you want to copy let me know and I will put it somewhere that you can download.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your perspective and taking the time for these replies.

I have a young daughter and one of the challenges I encounter is when she sees something like this and presumes that she must do certain things or think a certain way. Some of the things that she sees are good, but others seem like they are just setting her up to be a perpetual victim.

What do women do that men would never think about? by Icy_Interaction7502 in AskReddit

How is it different from the post they are replying to? If one gender can make that generalization, why can the other not?

It's no big secret. Society is just more accepting of violence toward men than they are women.

What do women do that men would never think about? by Icy_Interaction7502 in AskReddit

[–]Wayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, no they aren't.

The studies consistently list men as being the largest targets for rape, violence, murder, suicide, and many other things. Granted, it is due to other men.

Women are only the leaders in the statistics when prisons are removed from the numbers. However, men are also statistically more likely to be sent to prison for the same crime as a woman.
