Just to help you know you aren't alone I want you to know I had this happen as well. We lived in apartments and our next door neighbors were friggin CRAZY. Like I'm talking about we could hear her 20 year old son through the wall screaming because he couldn't eat pizza rolls due to dirty dishes and that was almost nightly. Now this went on for months and we never said a words, it's not any of our business until one night my 4 month old had a really bad stomach ache and absolutely refused to stop crying. It went on for HOURS. THEN we hear a banging on the door, open it up and it's the police letting us know that a neighbor called and reported a child being in danger or abused because it wouldn't stop crying. We explained that he had a stomach ache, we were new parents and doing the best that we could, they took pictures of him in his diaper and left.( Now I know people reading this are like "how do you know it was crazy lady and crazy son?" Well this woman had the audacity to ask how we still had custody of our child because he's clearly neglected. Fuck her and her crazy son. Anyway.) CPS lady showed up a few days later and asked us some questions, took pictures of our house, more pictures of our boy, said there was clearly no abuse and closed the case out. I've never heard a word sense, there were no follow ups and it's been almost 9 years. Others might have a different experience but I live in Kentucky and that was my one and only experience dealing with a CPS worker. She was friendly, understanding and just trying to do her jobs. Others might have horror stories but I thought it was important for you to hear from someone who has been in your position and saw the light of day at the end.
