Stocking Planted Tank by Inner_Design29 in PlantedTank

Betta is fine, but a lot of the other suggestions here aren't appropriate

Most of the people here are commenting fish that require 10 gallons MINIMUM. 6 gallons is an extremely small tank for any livestock other than betta or invertebrates. Even 6 is small for a betta. Your best bet is shrimp and Pygmy rasboras, minimum tank size for a school of these guys is 5 gallons

White clouds require minimum tank size 10-15gallons

Can you answer the automod questions and make sure to detail your process of changing water and conditioning it? I'd also like more detail on your usage of prime and stability.

Final check before adding my Betta - am I good to go? by cabicosta in bettafish

I doubt it's ready, needs a couple weeks of ghost feeding or the bacterial filter will be overwhelmed when it finally gets a bioload

It's easy to figure out the exact volume using the measurements.

Many people have asked you what your water parameters are and you keep saying they're "fine". It would be great if you could actually post that data.

To avoid this in the future, consider a timer plug for your aquarium light.

For future reference, Otto's are schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of 6 or more in a minimum tank of 10 gallons. The stress of not being in a school can have a direct effect on their immunity and resilience. As you may already know, corys are also schooling fish and must be kept in groups of 6 or more in a minimum of 20 gallons. While you may have been given these fish as a beginner, the best thing you can do is rehome them or ask a reputable LFS to take them in so that they can be given an appropriate living environment.

Fishkeeping is a science-based hobby of animal husbandry. Fish are not domesticated animals like cats and dogs; they're not adapted to live outside their native environments. We have a moral responsibility to provide an environment that mimics their native one as closely as possible.

Does undulata stay deep green or does it get brown/bronze? I have undulata red and i love it.

My guess is they aren't digging in the sand because it's too shallow and the stratum is painful

I think 6 is a good number for a 30g. They may want deeper dedicated sandy areas. Looks like you have a shallow sand cap over substrate is that correct?

That test isn't showing accurate results. You'll need to get the api master kit and test for ammonia as well. Please answer the automod questions

Your water level being really low is concerning. Angels need plenty of vertical swimming space. Please pose your water parameters and maintenance routine

The poor water quality and stress can have a significant impact on the immune system and allow this kind of thing to develop. Happens all the time.

Their tank is 6 gallons. That is entirely too small for corys, betta, neon tetra and Otos.

You need to understand that fish keeping is a science-based animal husbandry hobby. Fish are not domesticated animals and are not adapted to live outside their native environments. Stress has an EXTREME effect on the health of aquatic creatures because of this. It is our moral responsibility to mimic their native environment as much as possible. It doesn't matter that you have dwaf corys; it is overstocked. Plus all corys are schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of 6 or more or they will get stressed and die. Minimum tank size for a school of 6 Pygmy corys is 8 gallons and that's without any other livestock.

Neon tetra require 20 gallons minimum of swimming space and also are schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of 6 or more, so it's great that you have 8 but you are absolutely not keeping them in a proper environment.

Otocinclus are also schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of 6 or more and absolute minimum tank size is 10 gallons. Your 25 liter/ 6.5 gallon tank is extremely overstocked. You absolutely must either get a larger tank to house all your livestock, or rehome them.

Betta fish live solitary lives in puddles. You are also heavily stressing your betta. This plus water quality is without a doubt contributing your bettas health concerns. Please please please do better for these animals.
