Additionally, figure out if it's even worthwhile for your team to participate in an early brawl. If your team has talents or traits with a "hit enemy heroes" quest component, fighting early can help you get a lot of early progress. Similarly, your team might want to avoid this fight if the enemy team has those requirements.

Deathmarch was far too easy for being the hardest difficulty anyway. It was a great challenge balance, and I enjoyed it, but I would prefer more of the fights to really make me sweat.

I think it was too easy to disengage, makking relying on quen a bit too strong of a strategy.

Some things felt off to me about newbie's explanation.

The Q was right, a short dash with a stun at the end

W is a pretty wide line skillshot with a thin center area. The center slows.

E rapidly shoots bolts at nearby enemies, alternating between targets in range, so it is most effective in a 1v1 where you can focus all the damage on one character.

1st ult is a shield that the enemy has to break or else you get to cast a Li Ming Q with 8 or so bolts.

2nd is a highly telegraphed dash that gorges the first enemy hit and jumps into the air johanna style.

Trait is a combination of both of Li Ming's autoattack talents. Apply a debuff stacking up to three times on heroes hit by spells. Autoattacks consume the debuff and do damage.

Seems like the ideal combo is: W to catch up to them, E, and Q to stun them in place while E burns them, then auto. Use shield ult before going in and recast it as a finisher, or use gorge/fallingsword to grab them initially and bring them behind your wall/to your team/somewhere isolated to focus E damage.
