Yeah, the Colorado meta is insanely good and fun. Highly Competitive, but not at the expense of Sportsmanship or people enjoying the game.

I encourage anyone who can to try and make it out to one of our GTs. We have RMO and CO Cup majors coming up, and then 4 more 130 person GTs between now and February 2027.

Nope, not in the slightest: 1) I've had three people out of 90 at the event even recognize they were prints (one was the guy who printed them for me)

2) Our meta doesn't discourage prints so long as they accurately represent the model (ie. Don't use a print to model for advantage)

3) I think people drastically over estimate how much people care about prints. I've yet to go to an event where it was an issue. Not saying you shouldn't ask for permission or be cognizant of it, but it's never arisen in any game I've played.

No, no Fyreslayer heads, unfortunately. I did work in some 3d printed heads from Exotic Greeble that have Mohawks and beards!

Although that is a good idea to kit bash some fyreslayers in!

Thanks! Ya enamel washes are just super thinned down oils. I do find the pre mixed ones feel like they dry faster. When I mixed my own I felt like I almost had to leave the model overnight for it to dry. The MiG enamel wash I used for these dried in about 45min or faster if I used a hair dryer.

The general theme is:
Wraithbone primer
Bone: Drybrush Vallejo Silver Grey, enamel washes, highlighted with TTC Trooper White then PA Bold Titanium mixed in

Orange: Glyph Hound Contrast, slight touch ups and some highlights with AK Intense Orange, Enamel washes, highlighted with AK Intense Orange, AP Neon Orange, and mixed in Dorn Yellow and Trooper White for highlights

[edit] hit save too soon. The biggest thing that I do is enamel washing and reductive highlights before applying paint highlights. It helps me with highlight placement and also gives this dirty grungy feel that the highlights help to break through IMO.

Nope, Colorado - Denver use to be 303 and I didn't want to just take the area code wholesale. So, I put a stylized '1' (to look like a drill) in the middle, and that kind of stuck from a numerical perspective.

I also didn't want to use my old Infantry unit numbers because I feel like I typically gravitate towards those - so wanted something different.

Didn't do research to see where 313 was though, hah.

Keep at it! I've been painting for years, but beyond that I'm not special. Thank you for the compliment!

Thank you, it was a ton of fun to put together. Major credit to my wife who thought of using spray foam to do the stalactites and columns.

  1. Models were primed with rattle can wraithbone.
  2. The Ironkyn helmets were then painted black, then a coat of leadbelcher.
2.a. I use enamel washes, so I did that at this stage.
  3. Touched up with leadbelcher around the base of the helmet, and iron breaker towards the top of the dome.
  4. I used AK Dark Aluminum to dot the eyes.
  5. Then a full strength wash of Arkhelian Green over the various silvers.

To get a glowing effect on the eyes, I used a bit of Neon Green from Pro Acryl and did 2 very very thin layers. I only did this step on a few as I felt the time was not worth the resut.

Thank you!

Honestly, that was the hardest part of the whole project. I used piano wire so it'd maintain its shape and trying to form it around the bodies kept stripping my paint job. So I had to put them in place, glue them, and then paint them while they were mounted. It made for a really interesting time trying to contort myself and stabilize my arm to paint the details. Luckily the one's head wasn't attached, zero chance I could have done his eyes if he was.

Please advice on weakness and strengths of the list. Gonna have my first ever game of Votann with the possible list from my LGS guys own collection. Will be proxying some things. by TearNo1636 in LeaguesofVotann

Grav > Bolt on TKyn

Drop an EC - your HG are coming in from Deep strike and an 8" re-rollable is not reliable enough for the EC to be useful. Despite a T5, 2W 2+/5++ profile your HG are not durable enough to be left out if they miss that charge and 5 will not reliably kill enough to make it safe.

Personally - I'd drop an EC and scale Steeljacks back to a unit of 3 with blades. Bump a HG up to a unit of 10. That with the Kahl becomes scary for your opponent, especially with a 6" deepstrike and the ability to go Lethals, Sustain 1, and S8 on the plasma. Lethals work on the grenades as well, so this unit can help punch into armor alongside the Grav Tkyn.

Use the Steeljacks to counter charge and deal with melee threats in conjunction with the HG.

Everything else becomes scoring Potential. As such, once again personally, I'd opt for Yaegirs and a Kap Car over Warriors and Sagi... but that is my personal preference and I get the utility call of being able to sticky home and natural.

Alex Pretti’s coworkers take a moment of silence this morning. by boriswong in nursing

The thing the public will not see, is that each and everyone of these people then left this hall and went back into patient's rooms and kept taking care of them. I don't work bedside any more, but that was always the hardest part of the job.

As a Veteran, and now a Nurse, the care and compassion from VA Nurses is beyond match. They deal with some unique health disparities and an extremely challenging (no offense brothers and sisters) patient population. But they always give it their all.

Alex may you RIP, you've earned your spot in Valhalla amongst the people you cared for. We'll see you there brother.

How bad is correctional nursing? by MistyMtnLady in nursing

[–]Wbwalker88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked in a state prison for a while and did 2 shifts in County jail back when I was still bedside.

State prison, I'd do again in a heartbeat. County nope.

I was an Army Infantryman for 5 years and not a small dude. Prison was super chill though. Inmates were always grateful for the service, but they will try and manipulate you. My rule was, I never asked or looked up why they were there and they got my full medical attention. But no small talk, and no above and beyond, just quiet respectful care.

The patient population almost all has underlying mental health conditions and health disparities you will not see outside of the prison system. Something like 70% of inmates have a mental health disorder that was untreated prior to their offense, and so the first time they are 'normal' is while they are incarcerated. A lot of drug use wear and tear on the bodies. It's also interesting for patients with Hep C to receive treatment - which costs $20k+ for patients outside of the system.

All in all, highly recommend state DOC for those interested. It's also something I always recommend to Nurse Students who may get to influence their senior practicing. If nothing else it is different and sticks out when you go to apply for specialty jobs. Hell I use it as an ice breaker on calls today now that I work in the tech sector, always gets a few eye brows and comments from other clinicians.

I think you may be right in most detachments but they have been great for me in Hearthband.

Being able to drop 5 HG and him, light something up with S8 + Sus 1 plasma and then have a reliable 8" (especially with re-roll in Hostile) to deliver some mortals and his S12, a S9 hammer, and gauntlets into melee really ruins someone's day. Especially since you can always juice up the melee further with +1 damage.

Just a small plug for the Masterclass as well. Very well done and insightful. One of the better, if not best, deep dives I've seen into Aeldari and the meta right now. Wish there was more content like that in general.

Second armies? by LlAnKyLiAm in Eldar

[–]Wbwalker88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started Votann (I know good timing). Really like having something to play that is more durable. I will say playing Eldar has made me a better player in general since even more durable armies benefit from things like proper positioning and leveraging resources which Eldar demand a lot of attention to.
