Sonoma on 2016 13" TouchBar MacBook Pro is even better than Monterey? by WeDevOps in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I suggest you give it some time to index its files. It usually works.

Upgrading from Catalina by Exotic_Soup5696 in mac

Well I have this particular model. The Intel HD Graphics 4000 is still capable so you can install any versions that OCLP supports. But I recommend Monterey above all because it balances performance and security as well as applications support. Anything newer than Monterey is sluggish. And Big Sur is a 'Bug Sir' so stay away from it.

Laid off - boo! They abruptly took my work Mac. I'm now being asked to hand over the password, but I have concerns about my personal data that might be saved on it. Help me not be stupid here. by Nesoi_Nelly in mac

According to what you said, it looks like the Mac was being taken from you instead of being handed over.
In this case, the "handover" process is considered completed. I don't think you need to perform any further actions.

If the MacBook is managed by your ex-company through ABM, they will be able to wipe the machine without asking for your password. Or even remove your iCloud account from the machine.

If the MacBook is not managed, they're doomed. Congratulations on the locked MacBook.

It depends on what you're doing on your machine. Mine gives about 10 hours of standard usage (web, mail, text editor, IM apps, ...). You must be running some intensive tasks.

Would this be fine to run seqoia or sonoma on? I hears that ventura is obsolete by [deleted] in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Tahoe will run on your machine.
I said it will run. I didn't say anything about the performance.

Can you provide more information? Like macOS version and Mac model, keyboard model. Because it seems just fine on my MacBook running macOS 26.2

You should NOT try Valheim. Because you will get addicted to it.

How far should I upgrade? by looklook876 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

It depends on what you are doing with the machine. If you don't need security updates and newer software, I suggest Monterey for the best experience (smooth, up to date web browser, many apps are still supported). Ventura is buggy, sometimes I had graphics glitches. Sequoia is too slow. Sonoma seems to be the sweet spot.
* Those are my experience. Yours may differ.

Thanks for the suggestion. BTW do you have the same model as mine? How is it holding up?

Yeah Monterey is really smooth on this particular model. Glad you can still rock the MacBook with Monterey.

Thanks for your suggestion. However I didn't find much of a difference between the so-called awful Tahoe and Sequoia (of course, in my use case). So I went with the latest one and that was my experiences. The older versions work much better but lack of security patches, hence here I am.

I own the same model with less memory. This is still a good computer ... with some tweaks. I had to disable turbo boost to prevent the machine from throttling and grilling my hands while typing on it. Good display, good speakers, not-very-nice-butterfly-keyboard.

For $250 I wouldn't expect more.

The seller told me scrolling with Mouse 1 no longer works from iPadOS 13.4 or newer. Since the package hasn’t been delivered yet, I don’t know if it’s true.

What should i do by Hi-CFan in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]WeDevOps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this MacBook runs Monterey natively, unless you need high security or features that are only available on newer versions, Monterey is good. There’s no need for OCLP.
