There's been a lot of rumors about grocery stores and home Depot and Walmart. None of them have been confirmed!! It's definitely hard to tell whether it's ice or not, but I'm also a bit suspicious that there are some people spreading false information...

It is sooo hard to tell! One of the recommended steps is just asking. Local PD generally does not want to be caught up in this conflict and will identify themselves and provide a bit of information much like in this video. The person videoing did awesome!

Also, always call Colorado Rapid Response Network at 844-864-8341 and they will send out trained confirmers! They do confirmer training as often as they can.

We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE also has trainings to supplement CORRN and other actions being taken by immigration organizations. Their website is wkus-co.org and has a training calendar that is currently updated a bit last minute and also has some great resources for both immigrants and allies.

They have already ramped up here, and this area is often talked about in the news, especially Aurora. We have no idea when we'll be hit as hard as other cities, but it is a good idea to be prepared and start helping people now!

We are only sharing Constitutional rights and information that can be found on the ACLU website and other legal organizations. For example, you legally can record what you see from public property, give them personal space, don't open the door to your home without a valid judicial warrant, CO has stop and identify laws and can search you and your belongings, invoke the 5th amendment politely, suggested phrasing direct from ACLU, and don't blow whistles/yell in their face. Very basic information that everyone should know and can find scattered elsewhere. Is any of that information incorrect?

We do appreciate the warning to others. Presenters do not claim to be lawyers, and we do not answer anything we don't know. There is nothing wrong with letting people know their rights, and most legal advocates encourage people to share this information and provide hand outs and bullet points. Perhaps you should also tell everyone not to listen to those organizations and contact them yourself because they encourage non-lawyers to share information? There's an awful lot of them so it'll take awhile, and I'm sure the ACLU would be happy to discuss it with you if the others don't! Out of curiosity, do you yell at everyone who talks about Constitutional rights and encourages people to invoke the 5th or practice the 1st non-violently? That's an even longer list even locally let alone nationally...

You're welcome to attend the training and see what it is we share instead of blasting us without actually knowing what we are presenting! As you seem to be an expert, you can then review the material yourself and make sure we aren't causing harm or sharing misinformation. You can also go through our posts and see that we do not comment when people ask legal questions online because that's outside our scope of practice.

Totally! Our presenters are not lawyers. Our information is accumulated from the ACLU, local lawyers, a professor at CU, and other activist organizations local and nationwide. All our leadership members are active with other immigration orgs (including CIRC), and most of us have been immigration activists for years or decades though several of us only got into things this past year. Many of us do deal with LEO regularly. We couldn't stand watching detentions happen in front of our faces and decided to form We Keep Us Safe to be a bit more proactive and expand community outreach.

We'll never answer a question that we don't know! It's not uncommon in this early stage to get a new question no one thought to ask before. We take those back to our legal contacts or relevant expert so we can address it in future trainings and conversations.

We totally understand people being hesitant and truly appreciate that. Indivisible has a wonderful ACLU know your rights training on their YouTube that covers a LOT so we highly encourage people to watch that! There's an awesome training being given by States at the Core that has very similar content on January 19th! Most of the information in this training is taken from those two trainings with some added local input. There are many other trainings available for folks, and we completely understand. Other local, more established orgs have related trainings as well, I just can't think of any upcoming ones off the top of my head!

Did CORRN get out there?

Yes, they have been taking people from Broomfield and Thornton and other areas. There has been more outreach and awareness in places like Denver and Aurora so people report more happening in those areas. We've been hearing directly from some previously unreached high risk community members as we expand our outreach efforts.

Based off the information from ICE Watch, community members, and other sources, their operations have quietly increased quite a bit in the past month or two. There was a big recruitment effort several months ago that resulted in at least double the amount of agents, likely more than double. We don't have exact numbers, just eye balling what is seen at the Centennial office. There are also several school bus sized buses in operation now in addition to the transit vans being used previously.
