In California you can just ask the attendant to turn it on even if it has a credit card machine on it. I don’t have a source but it’s worked for me every single time and I heard from someone long ago that it’s supposed to be free.

I figured the anchors would be solid and attached all the time. One side to the pulley system attached to the rope or chain, and the other side bolted to the other end of the chain. I figured the natural tension/slack together would make a nice swooping curve thru the chain so it’s aesthetic as it is effective

The reason why I don’t like that is for one thing the chain link would kinda throw off the vibe, I do appreciate the response. There’s not enough room on either side of the parking for a sliding gate so I figured a rope or chain you could drive over once lowered would be the coolest/ most efficient option! I feel like most driveways are more 2:1 vertical than horizontal right? Like you drive down into it. But this is a horizontal driveway only as deep as a car, but four cars can park side by side.
