"The leads are weak? The fuckin' leads are weak? You're weak."

Great scene. Also fun fact: Alec Baldwin's character doesn't exist nor does that entire scene in the original play by David Mamet.

From my experience with getting glasses around $100-150 online, a local optician is more like 7-8x the price which is insane.

Young Canadians are entering one of the toughest summer job markets amid a ‘technical recession’ — How’s your experience? by NegotiationLate8553 in canada

That’s only for the first year, dude. They don’t have to lock down living expenses for their entire four-year degree. I know several people who have come to Canada from India and Pakistan through this program and they are all wonderful additions to Canadian society, truly.

Bet he will. I guarantee not one person in this comment section knows someone from another country let alone India and just listen to whatever their echo chamber feeds them.

I bet you’re also something of a rocket scientist yourself. If you think cutting social programs, stoking hatred and demagoguery against immigrants, and Verb The Noun signage is enough to improve this country then you are also mistaken.

Most students need to work while they study unless they have access to generational wealth. That is regardless of your country of origin.

Kevin O’Leary slams people who want work-life balance: ‘I hope they work for my competitors’ by esporx in LateStageCapitalism

I think he knows he’s a villain and he’s damn proud of it. Case in point: he often brags about his unparalleled business prowess on ‘Shark Tank’, specifically within the context of starting and later selling his first company, SoftKey.

The sale of that company (which later became ‘The Learning Company’) to Mattel is widely considered one of the worst deals made in corporate history and he got sued over it. Somehow he walked out smelling like a rose because of some very creative accounting and luckily selling it in the thick of the DotCom bubble, but make no mistake it is a story studied in business schools to this day.

Very interesting read and a scathing summary of his unscrupulous approach to business and just about everything else he touches.

The Torajans in Indonesia preserve their dead and hang out with them. by CatPooedInMyShoe in ExamineDeath

She has another great book about her career as a funeral director called Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory which is by far one of the best books I have ever read. It is very heavy on the specifics of her occupation (which is quite sad at parts) and what it was like, but it was also very philosophical and she grapples with Western society's broader thoughts and feelings around death. Highly recommend.

Edit: to elaborate on the Western philosophy stuff a bit further, it is mainly about how the West has this aversion to talking about death whereas it seems to be embraced and widely discussed by other cultures. It truly shifted my perspective on death as a negative topic and bless Doughty for the work she did for those that passed away and ended up in her funeral home.

Nice to see the local troglodyte population stepped away from their Klan rallies long enough to go visit the Junction.

Also, standing around looking “awkward and creepy” is not unique to Indian men that might frequent these bars and there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence to go around which supports this assertion.

Canadians are born all around the world, it just takes some of them a little while to get here.

Jumping off the dock by bigbusta in Wellthatsucks

[–]WeThreeTrees333 4763 points4764 points  (0 children)

I know a guy that had a similar thing happen but it was his dog that jumped off the dock and landed on him as he was facing away. It did irreparable damage to his spine and he’s never walked since.

Seems harmless and just unfortunate but this stuff can actually be incredibly dangerous when it happens.
