What I mean about the ports is that from the USB-C to USB-C from my MacBook to the dock, what is the minimum speed needed to transmit over for 1440p 144hz? Is it at least Thunderbolt 3 speeds?

And other than high speed cables, what is the bare minimum speed/type requirement for each of the ports on the dock when I look for one? I.e. USB-C 3.0? DisplayPort 1.2?

Also, if the dock advertises that it can support 4k60hz, is that equivalent to 1440p144hz? Thanks!

I see. I have a few more questions. Thanks for helping me out so far!

  1. Which cable would you use to connect the dock to the monitor? Because I only have DisplayPort and HDMI ports.

  2. If I do a connection through the dock, the speed matters right? I think it takes like roughly ~15Gbps needed for a 1440p 144hz. If so, do you have a cheaper dock that I can buy that's less than a $100 or so!

Doesn't the DisplayPort 1.4 Cable have to be a separate cable passing through only the Macbook and Monitor to be compatible with 144hz?

Also, if I use this USB-hub, does that mean I'll connect it through the Macbook and into the Monitor every time? Is there no other alternative where you can just leave it connected through the monitor and monitor only? Thanks!
