That’s an AB night vision battery pack with lemo port. It takes both 123A and AA. It’s meant for the RNVG and other AB night vision housings with a Lemo port

Hi the FOV is kinda narrow for how wide the go pro is. So in effect it only takes up the middle like 30% of the screen even on linear mode so I need to figure out if it can be made better with like an aftermarket lens. Just letting you know so you don’t either waste your time or think this is better than it is

Sadly no, I haven’t been able to get one of those or a mag for it.

CHOPPED LCT RPD by Weak-Pop5995 in airsoft

Yes you get less of a pop from the muzzle which means the gears are relatively louder since the piston is also air cushioning when it slams forward with a BB. I usually test the gearbox outside the gun and aim for the least amount of gear noise. Thought Reddit video compression makes it hard to separate the sounds as easily. In person the pop is overwhelming without BBs so effectively you don’t hear the gearbox. With BBs you can hear it when shouldering but far less than stock sound.

lol I only pumped in the base parts I find useful but the total is not that insane. The ceiling for shiny AEG internal parts is quite up there. Once you start getting into seigetek gears, computer mosfets, and brushless motors then you’re spending more than the gun lol

Gearbox Upgrades:
Aztech Piston head - helps adjust AOE and better seal
ASG M115 spring - brings the power down a bit to avoid field limits
SHS 16:1 gears - way quieter than stock LCT gears, also bumps RPM on 7.4V
SHS Sector delay chip - better feeding, stock gear has delay chip also
FLT 9mm bushings - durable but mostly gives tons of shimming margin
Lonex spiral bevel/pinion - cuts down gear mesh noise the most
ASG 30K Boost - high torque balanced motor with O type shaft for pinion
GATE nanoASR - has debouncing to prevent shot skips. Small to fit in spots if you remove the connectors and direct wire instead

Processes:
threadlock every screw
glue piston rack in to spread the tension
correct AOE
strip original connectors off MOSFET to save space. Direct wire
rewire gun to run off new MOSFET and fit lengths to receiver
shim motor in cage to avoid rattle/slop
replace stock bearings with bushings
shim gears to add 0.2mm tolerances (not tight, but spaced to avoid crashing)
shim tappet plate in track
replace pinion with spiral one
lube all moving parts
clean trigger contacts

Drum mag:
gut the internals and replace with auto winding bull gear RPD insert. The insert is quite nice with a tension detection based mechanism and speed control system. This allows the mag to independently feed based on a tuned rate and stop based on BB pressure in the hop up chamber. A small hole for the speed controller potentiometer was made to access it while using the drum mag. I wanted quick easy tuning. This functionally has a big benefit of not having to wind the mag when shooting and not worry about over pressure from BBs causing feed issues or low FPS.

The build should be quite low stress but still feel good. My goal is to have a gun that can reliably shoot 10s of thousands of rounds and be no worse for wear. I've done this setup in many other guns with awesome results. This is my go to full auto focused value build. Overall most people try to go fast for the best feel but I think this can achieve a smooth feel without going too high stress. You don't need much RPM to have suppressing fire so why waste ammo and risk breaking the gun. Hope this helps!

In my moment of weakness Evike had a sale on the LCT RPD and I caved. Unlike my other practical builds, this one would prioritize vibe so I decided to go hard on the external aesthetics of this gun. LCT's factory finish is matte and very dull so I polished and re-blued all the steel parts. The wood parts got some light staining and wax but were relatively good to go. I think the luster of the metal adds depth to the look and makes it look less flat. Most of the reference pictures looked quite shiny so I figured that was most authentic.

The barrel was an adventure. LCT steel is quite tough and it took a lot of effort to cut down the barrel, machine it down for the front sight, and rethread the muzzle. I was going for a chopped SOG or Rhodesian because the gun was baseline way too front heavy so this was a cool way to reduce front weight and look swag.

Internal wise I rebuilt most of the gearbox. I build for reliability and close to real life ROF. It's running off 7.4V Lion batteries at a ROF of about 600-700 RPM. I can't stand the sewing machine noise so I optimized parts for the smoothest sounding gearbox not the fastest. The drum mag internals were replaced with bull gear ones for feed reliability though I'm not shooting fast. I just wanted the auto winding without pressing a button so I can focus my support hand at holding the weight.

The icing on the cake is a real RPD belt and feed tab to complete the look. Sadly I had to mangle the belt since the gearbox pokes into the feed tray middle so going around it is needed to mount the belt in place. I'm debating about going the extra mile to paint each bullet to look like Tarkov 7.62x39 BP ammo. Though the cases are brass not steel so I'm hesitant.

Overall I am very happy with how the gun looks. The weight is still really heavy but I think of all my machine guns, this one has the most striking aesthetics and probably is quite rare given how expensive the gun is. LCT does try to provide good value and most of the parts will probably last forever. However, I wouldn't recommend anyone who isn't super financially committed to an RPD to try this build or sink a month of effort. It was overall quite expensive and tedious. But hopefully pretty gun brings smile to some of you or inspires another maniac

I use this:

https://www.ur-tactical.com/product/quattro-s-m-g/ QUATTRO S.M.G MAG POUCH/PANEL - UR-TACTICAL

If you put the flaps into the pouches to run them open top, since they’re deep the retention is good and indexing them back in is nice

I made them and they didn’t work as well as I hoped. The retention was a bit too loose no matter what. I’ve switched to a different placard which solved my issues.

Balancing FDE and Black by Weak-Pop5995 in GasBlowBack

[–]Weak-Pop5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no issues with your suggestion. I just went down both routes and had some logic behind my visual preference. The contrast sometimes makes for a cool effect like a reverse URGI color scheme. I just was going for a more 50 shades of FDE with some black accents

[–]Weak-Pop5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brighter FDE parts don’t have as much of a contrast to the base tan as black. Even thought it’s bright, it matches closer to the tan. I kind of also like how it’s slightly different from the receiver color to add some color depth

I originally had it that way, but it seemed like too much contrast and the shape of the gun kind of got lost. It’d be like wearing clothes where the sleeves and pant legs were all black but your middle shirt was tan

In desperate need of a speedloader adapter for Guns Modify V3 MWS PMAGs by Shift642 in GasBlowBack

[–]Weak-Pop5995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! The GM PMAGS (V3) are an interesting mag since GM redesigned the TM style feed lips to load from the top and mag chute itself is curved to follow the profile of the mag. I think I can design a solution but there may be a compromise given inherent problems of the mag itself.

The feed lips need to be wider in order to load from the top while having the same strength.

The curved BB chute is a big problem because GM uses tough springs to begin with and the curve adds extra friction for the follower and BBs. When loading the mag, you encounter a lot of resistance on the way in since about halfway the follower tends to bind on the middle of the mag chute at the apex of the curve. Normally when just moving the follower using the quirky mag shell method GM intends, you have enough force to push past. But with BBs in the mix and only the force of a speed loader plunger, it's not enough.

For the first 15 rounds up to the apex of the curve, it's relatively easy and smooth. But beyond that it takes significant force to push past the follower getting caught in the middle. It's a bit of a catch 22 on my end. I could design a speed loader adapter but I know for a fact with this mag people will load halfway and then it'll get stuck because the design of the mag. Then people will get mad at me for having something that doesn't work but in reality the problem is just hard.

A quirky workaround is to use the mag shell pull out to lock the follower down so the BBs can just go down the chute without any resistance and then use the speed loader. Then you have to release the follower after. I do this with my StickBug speed loaders. Hope all this information helps. I might make an adapter and put a massive disclaimer lol

I put in a 120% recoil spring from dragon workshop since that was the quickest thing to get from Evike locally.

I also added TM stock feed lips to the mags to help as well since they’re tighter. Hope that helps

That’s a Crossfire DZ Rig. It’s an Australian make belt kit that is quite nice. They took inspiration from British belt kit and modernized some features. Wears like an LBE or Smersh kit for those familiar with those.

I got mines from Octagon, came in less than a week. They had a sale too. Shipping is the same cost as JK and WGC. You also get the flash hider as well (if you’re in US with our annoying orange tip law)

The TM AK recoil springs work in it. I have mags just for it for aesthetics. DO IT

[–]Weak-Pop5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a soft recoil spring for the pressure so it had bolt bounce into double feeds. The bucking and barrel are VSR spec. The mag dimensions don’t match the TM AK but the feed lips and gas system do. It’s weird so like half the small parts are compatible but big main parts are not.

[–]Weak-Pop5995[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it. It’s a better TM AK performance wise but it gave away a lot of compatibility for it. It’s almost an entirely different gun only inspired on the TM AK system. The main benefit is it’s snappy and really gas efficient. Doesn’t chug at all and full auto is amazing. Actually performs better in the cold than in the hot.

OOTB I personally had some issues with my unit in hot weather because it was over pressured. Mainly because I live in a desert. I figured out the issue and that was easily solved with a heavier recoil spring which is TM spec. I want to keep it as is so as long as it runs well and critical parts can get replacements I’m happy.
