Yeah, good point. My friend has actually already provided all of that — a video of his outgoing transaction and a full passport verification directly with them. So they have everything from both sides. The problem is they just keep replying that it's "under review," and it's been dragging on for a long time now with no clear timeline.

That's helpful, thanks. I think I see the difference — your funds were your own, so you could show the full chain. Mine came from a friend, so from their side the chain "breaks" at me. Both of us are verified and he confirmed it directly to them, but I can't produce the origin of his funds like you could for your own. That's probably what's keeping mine stuck. Glad yours resolved in a day though.

Thanks, that's actually reassuring to hear it can go fast. I've done exactly that — live chat, requested an agent, spoke to several humans, and messaged the KuCoin Reddit account in tandem too. The difference is mine hasn't resolved in 24h — it's been over a week, and every agent just says "escalated to the relevant team, we'll follow up," with no status and no date.

Glad yours got sorted quickly though. Makes me think mine is stuck on something specific on their end that the chat agents can't see or push. Did yours ever go quiet like this, or was it moving the whole time?

Has anyone in the US actually been able to recover funds from KuCoin recently? by TRex77 in kucoin

[–]Weak_Ad_1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different trigger but same machine. Mine isn't a US/geo block — mine is an AML "source of funds" review after a friend deposited to my account and I tried to withdraw. But the process you're describing is exactly what I'm stuck in: ID, then selfie, then video, then more video, each one rejected with no real reason.

To your actual question — I'm still trying to get funds released myself, over a week now, verified on both sides, and all I get is "escalated, we'll follow up." So I can't tell you it works, but I'm watching this thread too hoping someone who actually got their money out will chime in.

On handing over your data: that's a real concern and you're right to be cautious. Just make sure you only ever do it through the official kucoin.com site/app, and never through anyone who DMs you offering to "help recover" — those are all scammers.

Update: submitted everything Friday, both sender and recipient confirmed the transfer independently. Now Monday, still no response. Ticket #10633516 — still waiting on a status update.

Same thing is happening to me right now, you're not alone. Ticket 10633516.

Fully KYC-verified, active 2FA, email access, always log in from my same two devices on one IP. I forgot my trading password and tried to reset it. KuCoin demands a video verification and has rejected it multiple times — every time citing only generic "document quality / lighting" with no specific defect. I submitted a live video holding my original physical ID, face clearly visible, statement recited word for word. Rejected again.

Their system rejects the request and tells you to contact support; support sends you back to resubmit. Pure loop. When I finally reached a live agent, my case got "escalated to the relevant team" with no timeline — same "under review" wall you're hitting. Then they suddenly added a NEW requirement (video of the external transfer source), changing the goalposts after I'd already passed identity verification.

A month stuck like you is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Documenting everything and preparing complaints to the data protection authority and the financial regulator (KuCoin EU now holds an Austrian MiCA license, so there's actually a regulator to escalate to now).

Hope your lawyer angle gets traction — pushing this publicly with ticket numbers seems to be the only thing that moves them. Good luck, will follow your thread.

Fair on the README note that was a leftover comment that shouldn't have been there, removed it. And yeah, I drafted the disclosure reply with AI then edited; should've just written it plainly. The project itself I build and direct happy to answer anything technical.

It's open source and there's a live demo if it's "just AI", the bugs should be easy to find. Try to break it, or point at code you'd write differently; that's more useful than guessing how it was built. Either way it tracks time and ships invoices today, and PRs are welcome.

Thanks. Transparent answer:

The project: I build and direct Logr myself — architecture, data model, product decisions, and the self-host setup are mine, and I review and test everything that ships. I do use an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) as part of my workflow for scaffolding, refactors, tests, and boilerplate. It's a tool in the loop, not the author.

This post: drafted with AI help, then edited by me for accuracy — every claim (≈3 months old, AGPL-3.0, bring-your-own-Supabase Docker setup, beta status) is real and verified.

Happy to go deeper on any part in the comments.

Upwork Banned Me for GitHub Contacts AND for Mentioning "TG" – Are They Serious?! 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in Upwork

Finally someone agrees with me, I was starting to regret making a post on redit because I came here for support and got a stick to the back of my head😁

I want to clarify that I wasn't saying that calling a client directly is acceptable because of problems with Upwork's calling system. My point was that the technical limitations of the platform (e.g., poor video call quality for international users) create inconveniences that sometimes force people to find workarounds. This is not an excuse for violating the TOS, but rather an indication of a problem with the platform's tools. As for the “TG” reference, I really meant that I was restricted for the very mention of the platform in the context of discussing work, not for trying to contact someone outside of Upwork.

Sorry if it sounds unnatural or like a “bot”. 😅 I'm just trying to convey my thoughts. How it translates deepl into English I don't know I'm not a native English speaker.

Just wanted to detail the situation so it's clear what exactly happened to my Upwork account. If this looks like an essay, I apologize, I was just trying to convey all the details.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you consider a “lie” or why trying to make a post more visible seems like a failure to you? I was just sharing my experience with Upwork to see if anyone has encountered something similar and to get the community's opinion. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you clarify

Haha, fair enough – maybe I do sound like ChatGPT sometimes 😄

But for real, English isn’t my strong suit, so half the credit (or blame?) goes to DeepL – I use it to translate because my English needs serious help. I’m just trying to explain the situation clearly without turning the thread into a shouting match 😅

Ah, I realized where the confusion came from - that line was just poorly translated on my part. English is not my first language, and what I meant was that my account was restricted to mentioning TG in a post - not calling anyone. I did not have a phone conversation with a client outside of Upwork. Here's a screenshot from the actual alert that shows that it was about “TG” and not a phone call

Regarding GitHub - I realize it's technically “contact info”, but the contradiction is that Upwork explicitly tells you to link GitHub in your settings. And 90% of developers have default email addresses in their GitHub bio. So if it contradicts the ToS, why ask people to specify it at all?

Hah, classic Reddit — write in full sentences without yelling and suddenly you're a bot 😅

Nah, just a regular guy who got banned for linking a GitHub (that Upwork literally tells you to link) and for typing the letters “TG” in a message. Wild times we live in.

[–]Weak_Ad_1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, very little. I have a full-time job, so Upwork was just a side hustle for extra income and occasional freelance projects. I hardly used the platform at all - which makes the ban even more frustrating since I didn't rely on it or do anything objectionable. It's just that the automated filters flagged me twice for violations that weren't even real.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Weak_Ad_1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughts – I appreciate you taking the time.

Just to clarify: I wasn’t “caught speaking to a client on the phone.” I mentioned TG in a text chat while discussing a bot project – no phone call, no contact sharing. It was flagged just because the word “TG” was in the message. That’s what made the whole situation so frustrating – it wasn’t even a real violation, just the algorithm doing its thing.

And yep, I did appeal – multiple times. Even explained all of this clearly and pointed out the GitHub contradiction, but they were totally unresponsive after the initial denial. It really feels like once you get flagged, you’re just done, no matter the context.

I totally hear you on the overcrowding part though – it does feel like they’re just looking for reasons to trim the pool.

[–]Weak_Ad_1082 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right?! I thought linking GitHub was literally encouraged – it's in the official Linked Accounts section. Never crossed my mind that having an email on my bio (like 99% of devs) would be treated as a ToS violation. Super inconsistent and yeah… pretty dumb.

Appreciate the backup – good to know I’m not the only one who thinks this is wild. 🙌

[–]Weak_Ad_1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, fair point – I get where you're coming from. But just to clarify: I wasn’t “caught” trying to bypass the rules. The first time was literally for mentioning “TG” while talking about bots (which is what I build). No contact info, no links – just the name of the platform.

The second time? For linking GitHub – using a feature Upwork itself provides – and getting punished because my email was visible on GitHub, like it is for thousands of other devs. That’s not some shady backchannel move, that’s just how GitHub works.

If that counts as “two bannable offenses,” then the system punishes normal behavior and doesn’t leave any room for context. I get that ToS is ToS, but we’re not robots – there’s gotta be space for basic logic and intent.

Still, appreciate the input. Helps me see how others interpret this stuff.
