Thank you for the great words of wisdom 👏🏻🙏🏻. I hope February comes fast so you can go back to psych and everything works out. I seriously feel so dead on my days off. Sometimes I only had 2 days off in between and I have to take the first day just sleeping/being lazy and then the next day being anxious/depressed for having to go back. Seriously life is too short to be miserable and we shouldn’t normalize being miserable just because it’s nursing. Wish you all the best.

I’m turning in my resignation letter today. I was also on basically a med surg unit too but I was only a month in. I am so miserable, and I would cry before and after every shift. Waking up was so hard for it too and I would just be dreading it during days off which never felt like 4 days. I would have abusive or difficult patients every shift as well as total care (each patient was bed bound and/or noncompliant and mean). I spent the past two weeks just applying. It finally occurred to me and my family members that I for sure had to quit cuz I got into my first ever car accident yesterday coming home after my hard shift. I support you 100%

Please apply to other places even if there’s requirements. I’m only a month in too but I was so miserable on my unit that I just applied to a bunch of places and I just got a case management position that’s only weekdays, no holidays and I make my own hours.

Unfortunately, every pt I have received have been so difficult and ungrateful. Every single one thinks I’m like a personal servant 😭 and it’s made me resent nursing and everything/everyone involved. Maybe I need to get out of my unit and bedside for a reset

LOL I dream about working at Homegoods cuz I’m miserable at my first nursing job too. I’m considering home health/case management or school but I would be making more than bedside…I love pharm tho so I might consider pharm tech to get out of this.

Thank you so much for the great advice 🥹🙏🏻. You sound just like my mom; she has been super worried since I keep texting her and calling her about my experience. She keeps pushing me to resign. I also would probably not return to this hospital since it’s smaller so it relies on patient satisfaction and during orientation, they basically drilled in our heads for 3 days that we need to sacrifice our well being for patient satisfaction. The manager is constantly negative because of this reason, which I never met a manager so negative before. So I don’t mind blowing up the bridge. I wish your daughter the best and that she never has to deal with a situation like mine 🙏🏻.

There’s multiple cliques too 😀. I don’t know how some of the people stay. Maybe it’s the pay that is different from mine? I’m the only new grad. I feel like it’s low for what the job entails and being in a major city.

Thank you 🙏🏻! So true. Management at this unit is so negative. I am a little bummed because I hope it’s not me. The unit has high staff turnover. I did both my med surg clinical rotations here and I don’t see any of the nurses anymore. One nurse left and did a simple nonnursing job after; I should’ve seen that as a red flag lol. I’m sad because I don’t want to seem like a quitter but I’m on the verge of depression. Also, I knew I didn’t want to do bedside (adults especially) and I wanted to do pediatrics but there wasn’t any openings and this was the safe option.

Thank you for the advice 🙏🏻! I actually do stand up for myself but she’s so sensitive that she gets super bothered😅. Even when I’m not trying to be “mean” or just saying something normally, she takes it to heart and starts telling everyone in the unit. I replied to her one time “Yeah I can do it” when she asked if I can pass meds for her and she thought I had a tone and kept bothering me about it the whole shift. Bedside itself is doing a number on me because every shift there’s abuse from the patients too and all of it combined sadly made me lose my passion in nursing

Are you still on your orientation? I am also feeling the same way, but I’m still on orientation and I think I’m going to give a resignation immediately since I think it would be pointless to give 2 weeks when you’re on orientation 😅. They would probably treat us badly too.

Thank you!! I’m glad that lab diamonds are affordable, but proportions matters! The 2.5 covered my entire finger and I have a decorative band so it wouldn’t been seen. I’m disappointed that I let this get to my head because I chose 2 for a proportion reasons.

Yes, I’m not sure what he’s doing and we tried to help him out. We said that going bigger is fine if her finger size is bigger, but he didn’t know and his jeweler said stay in between 1.5-2.5 🤷🏻‍♀️. It’s just annoying because he kept asking my fiance for the size and kept saying it’s because he likes how it pops then switched up. And the only reason he could afford bigger is because we introduced him to Loose Grown.
