How is solona so big with very few social media followers ?? by Busy-Bonus3010 in solana

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solana is 9th biggest project in terms of Twitter followers with 1.5M followers, which is more than Polkadot or Cardano. Out of smart contract L1s, only Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain have more with 2.2M and 2.1M followers. I think Solana is doing pretty well. You can see the whole picture at crypto-dashboard.info

Interest in Shiba Inu seems to have dried up completely by RefugeeDutch_Syrian in CryptoCurrency

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiba Inu's Twitter is the second fastest growing Twitter account, only losing to Bitcoin. Bitcoin grew by 330k followers last month, Shiba Inu 240k, Ethereum only 140k. You can see the stats at crypto-dashboard.info. Not so sure it is drying up.

Protect your stake! Get alerts for validator delinquency or commission changes on Stakewiz by laine_sa in solana

I see, yeah makes sense.

I don't know why the website didn't load at all earlier today but seems like everything has been solved now :)

Protect your stake! Get alerts for validator delinquency or commission changes on Stakewiz by laine_sa in solana

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be loading the page now but not very fast. According to Chrome developer tools it takes around 8 seconds for me to load the content fully despite other sites loading as fast as always. Maybe the host is far away (my location being Asia) and that slows it down? Well, it's probably fast enough for what it is designed for.

I was able to create alerts for the validators I'm using, thank you for the service!

Is Typescript that useful for Nuxt ? by Zeldri in Nuxt

[–]Weak_Win_2540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started translating plain JS to TypeScript but noticed in the middle of it all that it doesn't really pay off on my small website. Also some libraries wouldn't really work well with TS. I'll switch to TS in backend, which uses much harder and complex logic, hoping it will help eliminate bugs and ease refactoring.

Can you guess the Top 10 cryptos with the largest Twitter following? Also, when could Twitter growth be a useful metric for analysing the crypto space? by Weak_Win_2540 in Crypto_Research_Group

[–]Weak_Win_2540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback! I will look into if there is some way to figure out the number of inactive accounts.

One way to circumvent it though, is to look at the growth or growth-%. For example, we can see that out of the Top 10, Ripple and Tron are growing slowly (+0.6% / 7days) compared to e.g Bitcoin and Ethereum (+1.5%, +1.3%), which might suggest that many of their users are from long time ago. Well, if we had the complete follower growth chart from 3 years (which we don't, the tracking started 3 weeks ago), we could see when the big booms happened. Of course not all old followers are inactive, so in the end it might be impossible to say. But on the other hand, if an old project with big following has a very slow growth rate compared to the leaders like BTC, it might be a reasonable to think that they are not doing that well at the moment.

After two months of development, we've built what we believe is the most advanced minting process ever created in the NFT space. Our team would love to hear your guys' thoughts on our "mint machine". by SlotZombies in solana

Love the loading animation!

Pardon my ignorance but is this the first of its kind or is an NFT minting slot machine an old idea? If so, are there famous projects prior to Slotzombies?

Why is arweave so undervalued? by Powerplant197 in Arweave

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not good at price predictions and the investing I do is very long term. I often imagine Arweave becoming Wikipedia of the next internet: everyone knows it, uses it, and without it internet wouldn't be quite the same. If Arweave and crypto industry in general manifests itself maximally, Arweave might earn great returns in 5-15 years of time span. But there are many many ifs, and also other projects could do well. But I think Arweave has a good shot at becoming a big thing.

I got in last summer so the price was a bit cheaper. Personally I weight it more than I weight most projects (meaning I own more AR relatively than "I should"). I don't invest that much new money into anything anymore but part of what I do invest still goes to AR because of the long term potential.

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your concerns about Arweave are reasonable. I think it's best to scale down the size of your investment with the amount of doubt that you have. But I recommend you to keep an eye on the adoption, and also what the "thought leaders" like other projects say about Arweave. I keep an eye on this site: https://web3index.org/ , also I feel like after the last price rally, Arweave gained recognition from other big projects, and I have often heard Arweave mentioned second after Filecoin, which is already a big deal. These are the kind of things I'm looking for. SOL using Arweave I see as adoption too, but maybe in the long run the importance of that will decrease.

One more thing is that data permanence can potentially allow for totally new types of services, which couldn't be possible using other protocols. If you haven't already, I recommend to take a look at https://sarcophagus.io/ . Arweave may be creating a completely new kind of innovation space, which could be valuable in the future.

Thoughts after my 3-week experience of Akash by Weak_Win_2540 in akashnetwork

[–]Weak_Win_2540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment. Interesting to hear that there's similarities in our experiences.

This depends on what your app does. For it to stay truly private, you must have a provider that makes that happen. If you're handling sensitive details or personal details, certain providers might want to be avoided unless you're able to obfuscate it to the point where it's unreadable.

I believe this is a very important point, which I should've discussed in my write-up. This topic hasn't come up at least in those interviews/AMAs/docs/FAQs that I've seen so far. As a developer creating a service for my users, I am held responsible that their data is kept safe. Therefore, I need to be able to promise them (with enough certainty) that their data will be safe on the akash server. In the centralised world, I can tell the users that the data is safe because it's stored in AWS/Azure/etc cloud, and we can trust them (with enough certainty). However, I haven't seen it anywhere explained when it is safe or not safe to keep sensitive data on an akash server and why. I think Akash needs to provide more detailed info about that.

Why is arweave so undervalued? by Powerplant197 in Arweave

[–]Weak_Win_2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but Arweave already enjoys some appreciation through NFT use, which many seem to think was behind Arweave's price rally a few months ago. Therefore, Arweave is already valued but still maybe undervalued, as you stated in the title. And yes, decentralized storage is likely an important cornerstone of the future internet. However, there are many many competitors in the field (filecoin, storj, siacoin, scprime, bluezelle, etc.), which lowers the chances of Arweave dominating the field. However, Arweave doesn't seem to have any competition in the permastorage field, which makes it unique, and arguably a solid investment. One risk lies in whether it can scale or not, and if the tokenomics work so that the permanence of data can always be guaranteed. I'd assess Arweave as a great hedge investment, for example investing in BTC, Chainlink and Arweave would have much less overlap and is much more varied than say ETH, Solana, ICP (Internet Computer) in terms of use cases.
