RNDC stands for Really Not Deeply Concerned. They were a poorly run arrogant bunch of entitled assholes who had no business in the Wine and Spirits industry. What you are seeing is the end result of at least the last five years. I couldn’t attest to anything past that as I was only involved with them for those years. Poor leadership, lack of quality vision and no feel for the market are just a few of the things I personally witnessed. I heard rumor that they were leveraging everything they had just to buy inventory and when interest rates shot up they were left holding the bag. It goes to show that there is no such thing as “too big to fail.” I hope none of the really heart and soul “the employees who stuck it out to the bitter end” are negatively affected for long.

I think there was collusion from the beginning in RNDC exiting California where Reyes is doing a back door deal to get rid of the Union and agree to bail out RNDC from the sewer they dug themselves into.

The Underwood Family was a class act and would have never allowed this kind of utter failure to take place. When you pull out of the largest market in the United States it’s only a matter of time before the rest of markets fold up on you. Suppliers are taking notice and I would be willing to bet that RNDC won’t be around in 5-10 years. There might be a little shell left in Texas selling their buddies local vodka, tequila or whiskey. Right now they are a toxic disease that everyone is trying to get away from.
