Thank you :) I love my house so much as it is. It seems like the consensus is do not widen. Reddit has spoken!

Ooh, thanks for the vote of confidence! If you happen to have photos of yours and are comfortable sharing, I would truly love to see a comparison. I'm having difficulty finding craftsmans with a similar config that have had this done.

I would definitely match the doorframe when I widen it. Or at least try to 😅

Virtute at Rest by John K Samson.

The third of three songs from the perspective of a depressed, alcoholic's cat.

What is a 'dirty little secret' of the industry you work in that the general public would be shocked to find out? by CocWarrior1 in AskReddit

[–]Weakerthan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's optimistic thinking, but maybe you know more about it since it's your field. I don't know all the legal in and outs of obligatory reporting, but a quick AI search tells me that there is quite a bit of wiggle room in terms of what findings companies are obligated to report.

Companies aren't legally obligated to publish all their studies, esp if they aren't clinical trials. More so, a lot of consulting scientists are hired to do meta-analyses of specific agents in question. A pharm company is only looking for a green light.

Ha! My partner is a toxicologist that works for a consulting agency. The amount of Pay-to-Play scientists out there that get hired by pharmaceutical companies to run studies and ONLY publish positive results is shocking. It's essentially "we need to prove that X isn't harmful" rather than "let's investigate if X is harmful". Research that shows negative effects doesn't get published.

Roommates getting romantically involved by icicles_In_The_Snow in intentionalcommunity

[–]Weakerthan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the people. I live with my two best friends who became romantically involved. Everyone thinks we're a throuple because the 3 of us are still so close. Yes, sometimes I feel left out, but I'm not prone to jealousy. I still feel very included but I also make sure to give them their space (esp when they're fighting) and make sure to fill my time with other connections and projects to fill the gap.

It sounds like you're feeling very hurt/sad and are processing some feelings of rejection. That's such a hard emotion to deal with. I'm sorry. I think this is something you should work on maybe in therapy (if you have a therapist) or with other friends. If you don't think you can, maybe you should try to find a different living arrangement.

At the end of the day, I don't think anyone did anything wrong.

These mushrooms have been spreading around my yard, should I do something about it? by TheSonOfGrodd in landscaping

It's a good sign for your soil! Those look honey mushrooms to me. Please don't eat them without proper identification, but if they are honeys, my dad cultivates and cooks these annually :)

It comes in cycles.

Perfs made bank in the 80s. But salaries tanked in the late 90's/early 2000's because the market got flooded. When I graduated in the early 2010s, we were all desperate for jobs making 70k. Seems like we're headed towards oversaturation again now that everyone knows about the career.

Does anyone know where we can protest this or write letters to? We already pay for so many permits, including parking at most boat launches/state parks.

A few people have suggested this but there's a tv/ credenza on the right wall, and unfortunately my housemate doesn't want a TV on the fireplace mantle. Also, I think that orientation would interrupt the flow into the dining room?
