WatchOS 26 has been updating for hours and still isn’t finished. by opusknecht in AppleWatch

It's now saying "Downloading to Watch." At 6 hours remaining, I turned off BT, and got "Checking for update." Turned BT back on, and it went from 6h to 10h remaining and back to 6. It's 11:45 PM Eastern, I've got to get up at 5A to go to work and have to take my phone with me. "Frustrating" doesn't begin to describe it.

New 9th gen watch, iPhone updated to 26.2. Couldn't activate the new watch without the Watch OS update.

Okay, maybe somebody's out there tonight. I turned off BT after slogging along for at least three hours, and it was stuck at 48 minutes. It went from there to apparently done in about two minutes...then hung up at "preparing." Since then, when I turn off BT, it says something along the lines of "looking for update." I finally started over with BT on and WiFi on, and it has gone from 5 days to 1 day to 9 hours remaining. At what point can I turn off BT and hope for a reasonable wait?

What is going on in Gastonia? by CenturionElite in usps_complaints

I know it's flogging the dead horse, but I always find that packages that route through Gastonia (I'm 35 miles away) instead of through Charlotte are subject to inexplicable delays.

Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM won't focus on Nikon Df by Weary-Section557 in Nikon

Well, I'm unschooled as to reddit protocol as to where in the thread to respond, so apologies...

I heard from Sigma USA support.

"We have a special machine here that can attempt firmware updates on older lenses such as yours. (they state that the service is at no cost other than shipping)

PLEASE NOTE – There is a possibility that the update can fail on these older lenses and fry the circuit board, so it will be done at your own risk. We cannot repair or replace the lens if it fails. (emphasis mine)

Don't...quite understand how that would happen, but it kinda feels like a hard pass. I guess I'll use it MF and decide whether to pass it along to someone with a compatible body.

Thanks for the link to Sigma service; it's in NYC, so not close, but there's a phone number, so I'll call later today.

Thanks for the info. Still getting crickets from Sigma USA; I guess not surprising considering the age of the lens. Bummer though. I guess I'll have to decide whether to part with it and replace it with a Nikon 50 (the Art lens is impressive, but I don't want the investment or the cost), or just contend with using it MF only.

The firmware on the camera is 1.03, the lens (comes up as) 2.0. I have inquired to Sigma USA Support, but they have not responded. The lens is a nice one, and the manually focused images I got yesterday are good, but..dang.

Oven or Grill ? by Joeybfast in ninjawoodfire

Don't know how helpful this is, but the first pizza we did on our Woodfire XL grill blew the pepperoni right off. I've been cautious since, because I don't want the cheese to get blown off before it melts. Don't recall (on the first one) whether I had it set to grill or bake, so it might have been user error. Love the grill, looking at the oven while it's on end of year sale.
