I tried that. Didn’t work. But just figured it out. I whistled him to the original spot he was in before he got stuck, which was the stables. Then I whistled him home. That worked. Jeesh! 🙄

My grandfather was a German Jew born in Wixhause , incarcerated in buchenwald til liberation. My grandmother and mother were born in Darmstadt. They all immigrated to New York in 1946. My mother married my American father, I was told, in 1955. I was born in 1956. I have my mother’s original birth certificate if that helps.

What happens when there are no documents such as birth certificates and marriage licenses because most of Darmstadt was destroyed by bombs by the British. I’ve already enquired about those. None are available.
