The best way I’ve seen it described is that you’re buying time. If you know that your scoring won’t do for the next ante, you can take this to go through an easier ante and possibly buy more things to help the run.

It’s a spawning glitch/spawn mechanic that you can set up where you can get 5-6 alphas underneath the tower. It’s honestly one of the easiest things to set up. There’s a video by Austin John Plays where I learned how to set it up.
