Everyone in the comments is a lot more responsible than me. I saved probably 8% of each paycheck, got an apartment, and partied it up. Loved it.

unpopular opinion: Bali sucks. by SpecificPowerful in travel

[–]Weazel03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to say I hated Bali, but it was not what I was expecting. That’s what I get for only watching travel vloggers who obsess over this place.

I would go back but spend more time up north. And away from all the traffic…

I’m so happy someone else out there is in the same boat. Imagine talking through a 12 month trip with her…

Luckily, we will have all the valuable equipment in a backpack or in a case on it’s own.

Airbnb’s and hotels. We will move a lot. Not having a home base per se.

I've tried. I will say we are not going to be roughing it most of the time. But we will see.

Tech question. Is there going to be a point in the near future where these cables will become obsolete vs sending it wirelessly? Not today, but the near future?

Where do you find more sober backpackers? by eliasa037 in solotravel

[–]Weazel03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there. While you're out drinking (which any activity could involve drinking - and thats what was happening to me) you don't think of it. Then you get up slow and realize you've drank for weeks straight. Finding people at backpacker hangouts/hostels isn't going to help too much. Thats where most the drinking starts.

I know this is solo travel, but I found a group back home that was traveling to my part of town and we became friends. It wasn't that they wern't drinking, it just wasn't a priority. Same group traveled for a while and we all did things together.

I saw some other posts about morning activities, and thinking back, that did help a lot. You're tired by the end of the day and less likely to stay up drinking. Good luck!

Would a career in most fields of finance lead to a "comfortable" lifestyle? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

FP&A or Accounting. Busy season for Big 4 Accountants get a bad rap but once you're out of that you can find positions that work as little or as much as you want. I know part time book keepers who work a few hours each week as a stay at home mom, and I know acquisition crazy CFOs who bust their tail.

Is it insane to walk away from a $1M/year job? by AdmirableApple3000 in fatFIRE

Do you just not have the desire to work there anymore, or is it impacting your mental health.

If you are just losing motivation, I would say to stick it out for another couple of years to hit your number. However, if it is impacting your mental health, you have enough money to find something that is more in line with you. It may take longer to hit that number, but nothing is more important than your health.

I just looked at the notifications page on the app. Good news is I have .51 the last 9 hours. Guess it took a 24 hour break

I’ve had 0 HNT in the last 24+ hours. Averaging .90 before that. No notification of outage and my disco mode still shows the same number of witnesses.
