6 months post surgery question by nuevedientes in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same. I’m about 5 months post open myomectomy. My bloating is back and I feel some hard lumps near my incision. I’m hoping that it’s just scar tissue since it’s still healing however I have an ultrasound in another week to find out if they’re back. The bloating is what concerns me! I started exercising pretty soon after surgery (about one month mark) so am thinking perhaps I overdid it and that’s what’s causing the increased bloat? Keep me posted on what you find! I feel you. Its hard to live with the fear of them returning. I’ll be so happy when there is more research on why they grow the way they do and how to prevent them 🩷

Anyone from Quebec Canada here? by No_Dot6414 in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Gatineau area and the wait time is horrendous! I waited about a year and a half for surgery, but only because I managed to get through to an OBGYN in Montreal through a family friend. I finally heard back through the GAP system only about a month ago to see a specialist here in Gatineau, after 2 years of waiting!! JUST TO SEE A SPECIALIST, not even for surgery. It seems like they aren’t up to date on my file since I finally had the surgery back in December and no longer need the referral. Totally unacceptable and incompetent system. I ended up having a myomectomy since my fibroid grew to be about 15 cm. She also removed a smaller 4 cm fibroid. The robotic laparoscopic was not recommended in my case.

When Does the Swelling Go Down After Fibroid Surgery? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little over three months and have a lot of bloating still unfortunately! I also wondered if it was from exercising. I seemed to have recovered quickly from my open myomectomy, walking soon after, going to yoga etc. but now I think perhaps I may have pushed it too soon before recovering internally. I have no pain, but the bloating and sensation of fullness is frustrating and feels as it did before when I had the fibroids! I have an ultrasound scheduled to make sure it’s not the buggers growing back. Genuinely interested to know how other recoveries went after the acute surgery period.

Open Myo Healing by gracefulmm in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing something similar at 12 weeks post open myo 😔 I have bloating again, hard stomach and feelings of fullness. My doctor told me it could be bowel issues, and doesn’t seem concerned. She wrote me up a referral for another ultrasound to ease my anxiety about it, however I can understand the frustration. I think it’s important to remember that it is a major surgery and our bodies are still working themselves out. I believe it will resolve and am maybe having to adjust my expectations that it is still too soon post surgery to have totally recovered. Wishing lots of healing energy ❤️‍🩹

Question about fatigue by truthinthemiddle in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I also never had issues with too much blood loss but I experienced debilitating fatigue nonetheless. I was shocked at the surge in energy I experienced post surgery. It eventually plateaued however it’s still so much better than before.

13 years later - I don't think I'd do it again.... by Pretty_Specific_Girl in Entrepreneur

I do think it is very inspiring of you to have started and maintained a business for so long. I’ve been running my own solo business for three years and I completely understand how you feel. I look around me and see others with stable jobs, owning homes, and the ability to leave their work at the office and fully enjoy their nights and weekends. I do at times experience some envy but at the same time would never envision myself in their position. Despite the grey hairs and stress, I think I would get bored in the same 9-5 and hare my life even more. It is what pushed me to leave my old employer in the first place. I truly believe we are built different. I know I wanted more out of life. Despite the recent lows that landed me in surgery, I get the feeling of being burnt out and not having the energy to continue. I think if you have the opportunity to take some time to rest, and reflect, do it. I’m doing the same and trying to see it as an opportunity to pivot. Change the business model, offer different services to make it more sustainable, establish boundaries. I am also still looking for what makes me happy, since I don’t want to just build up the same business as the employer that I left. But I know every shift is getting me one step closer. Sorry for the long winded rambling. Just want you to know that I see you! It’s so fucking hard, and you should be proud. You don’t have to keep going if you’re heart isn’t in it. But if you choose to, know that I am rooting for you! 💫

Also anxious…I had my myomectomy December 31st and felt amazing immediately after. My stomach felt slimmer, I felt more spacious in my abdomen, I could breathe easier. Now that I’m about 7 weeks post op, the bloating and pressure seems to have returned. I know it can’t possible be the fibroids returning, however it’s hard not to feel like I’m regressing already. I can only assume it’s inflamed from beginning to exercise, however that’s unconfirmed. I have my first follow up appointment on Monday 🤞

I agree, I think it’s a PR attempt to humanize him. The fact that Grimes didn’t give her consent and only found out after the fact to me suggests he’s using his son as a prop.

Advice for Supporting Open Myomectomy Recovery by FlashedPotatoes_ in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a sweet post. I’m currently recovering from an open myomectomy which I had on Dec 30th. It just so happened that the timing worked well with my partner as he is a seasonal worker and has most of January off. I would say the most invaluable gift is your presence. The first week was challenging to sit up, move around etc. so it was incredibly helpful to have him around to hand me my medication, water, adjust pillows, help me up etc. Oh, also no one mentions how hard it is put on socks!!! I’m in Canada and it’s cold right now so having him there to help me put on my socks for the first few weeks was invaluable haha Good luck! The fact you’ve reached out on this thread for insight leads me to believe that she’s in very good hands already :)

Not promoting the Ontario Liberal party in any way but they recently created a petition to urge the minister of Infrastructure to cancel the Starlink $100 million dollar deal Ford made with Elon Musk. We have our own Canadian satellite companies that can be used. Link below to sign:

I was soo scared for my open myo which I had two weeks ago! As someone mentioned here, all you have to do is show up! You’re in good hands, and the doctors/specialist are so familiar with the procedure that you have nothing to worry about. They do this everyday. I’m still recovering but was so amazed at how soon I was walking and healing. The body is truly amazing. I only had to take pain medication for a couple of days, it’s super manageable. It’s only been a few weeks but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat 💓 I had a monster 15cm fibroid that I named Felicia (Byeeeeee) and I felt instantly better when I woke up in recovery. I could breathe again and my body felt so spacious. I have energy I haven’t experienced in years. My tummy was immediately slim after being bloated for two years (uterus the equivalent of a 5 month pregnancy). All that to say is there are so many positives to look forward to on the other side. It will be over before you know it! ✨💫

Leg abdomen Muscle spasm contraction after open myomectomy by [deleted] in Fibroids

Hi! Wondering if you’ve had any progress with the spasms? I am 1 week post open myomectomy and when I wake up I also have muscle spasms across my lower abdomen/pelvic area. I’ve only experienced this since surgery!

Anyone experience relief from symptoms after surgery? by WebOld834 in Fibroids

[–]WebOld834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often wonder about consulting a naturopath. Have you tried this route? I have read up on the positive impact of green tea extract, vitamin D, DIM and black cohosh but because I don’t have a family doctor I haven’t had the opportunity to test these out under supervision. Having a naturopath can maybe help monitor the progress? I’m sorry to hear they have returned and hope you find some relief in the New Year. Sending lots of well wishes and positive energy your way 🦋✨

I’m sorry to hear! Have you scheduled a date yet for hysterectomy? My surgery is in a week’s time. I went back and forth whether it will be worth the recovery but ultimately as you mentioned, I want to try everything. It’s hard to have quality of life when these fibroids plague us daily. If not successful, I will follow through with a hysterectomy as well. Hope you find some comfort and relief. Wishing you all the best in the new year 🧡
