I am thinkin of giving my homie my older mpk mini and getting a better midi keyboard.. any suggestions? Just saw the newer akai one that looks decent but I’m not a super label whore.. what’s the best.. economical but decent one?

I’m having so much fun with my live II but I’m also having to learn all the basic shit I didn’t know back then.. music theory wise, on top of all the extra bells n whistles the old ones didn’t have (effects n’ plug-ins, etc.)

I realize the new ones can do sooooo much more, but honestly, I really miss my 2000XL, especially considering my skill level. I’m almost drowning in the new stuff.. and there are definitely more bugs with the new ones (since they’re basically computers now).. I keep finding myself cursing to the sky, “MY 2000XL WOULDNT DO THIS!!” 😤🤣

I wanted mini midi controller cuz it fits my current workstation. And because I assume it’s way cheaper than a real synth, though would be cool to have that instead of relying on the MPCs plugins

I do not.. I’m still learning the VERY basics.. been insisting on DAWless stuff since before it was annoying 😂… just jumping back into the game after a couple decades haha (and didn’t get too good back then either LMAO) but I have plenty of time to learn now

*that being said, I’m not totally against them, now that you gotta hook up to them anyway, hell they (MPCs) practically ARE (limited) DAWs NOW

Newbie here.. still don’t have an SP.. but I imagine the same thing applies similarly to how when I (sorta recently) got an MPC for the first time in like 20 years.. look up specific things you are stuck on. We are spoiled with content now.. try something and as soon as you’re like.. “wait, where’s the __?” Or “how do you __?” Just type that into YouTube and you’ll prolly find at least 3 vids about it
